I like the name and feel it's getting slightly less popular..

It's decent. Definitely usable.

@Kanaloa it's my opinion. And I'm working class so yeah classist I guess. Every Connor in my estate (there are a few) are little rats destined for prison. She asked for opinions and that's mine. Nice try with the anti-Irish twist though..creative.

Imagine being so snobby that you happily defend your classist views by calling children rats.

Conor is hugely popular in Ireland, been in the top 5 boys names for many many years, always spelt with one n, it's ok but I know so many at this stage it's become boring, definitely not a chav or down market name though..

CrotchetyQuaver · 01/12/2022 21:07

I know one of each, both proper adults now
The 2n Connor is just lovely, the 1n Conor not so much!

@SummaLuvin Smile

Wheelyweddingwipedout · 01/12/2022 21:12

Made me think of Connor MacLeod in ‘Highlander’

ScornedChicken · 01/12/2022 21:13

Love this name

arthurfonzerelli · 01/12/2022 21:21

It's ok. Conall is nice too (not 100% sure on the spelling)

Lightningrain · 01/12/2022 21:24

I like it.

I know an adult Connor and he’s the complete opposite of ‘naughty boy’. He was a straight A student at school.

xJ0y · 01/12/2022 21:25

A bit safe. Conor over Connor for a first name.

Olive19741205 · 01/12/2022 21:25

I love the name Connor. I prefer the 2 nn spelling.

LlynTegid · 01/12/2022 21:25

Not one I'd consider unless I had Irish heritage and wanted to celebrate it.

ThirtyThreeTrees · 01/12/2022 21:41

I like it. In Ireland,it is typical spelt Conor as a first name. Connor is more common as a surname.

Common name but less so recently. No negative associations. I love it. Also like Killian and Cathal.

RambamThankyouMam · 01/12/2022 22:46

Townie name.

YourWinter · 01/12/2022 22:47

I love it!

mrwalkensir · 01/12/2022 22:58

Connor Swindells (Sex Education, SAS Rogue Heroes) seems to be a complete good egg.

LizzieAnt · 02/12/2022 01:54

Agree with pp that in Ireland it's typically spelt with one n as a first name, with the double nn spelling more usual in the surname. It's very popular here.

Penguinsaregreat · 02/12/2022 05:56

Ok if you have Irish ancestors otherwise I think there are much nicer names.

FixItUpChappie · 02/12/2022 06:09

Love it!

JenniferBarkley · 02/12/2022 06:52

Agree one n, it's a grand name. Don't love it but like it and considered it briefly for both DDs had they been boys.

Irish boys names always get the naughty boy comments on here. Girls names not so much, they get the can't spell/pronounce it, don't do that to your child comments.

In Ireland Conor is like James - could be any age and any social class.

Pettv · 02/12/2022 09:39

Thanks for the replies, Irish roots but living in the uk.
Would spell it with one 'b' I think now, Conor. Really loving it Smile

OP posts:
KirstenBlest · 02/12/2022 11:33

It's better without a 'b' at all, Pettv. Smile

How are the names Connor and Tyler ‘thuggish?’ Do they have meanings associated with violence? Or do you associate the names with a well known ‘thuggish’ character? I’m curious as to how having a well used name is ‘thuggish.’ Is Tyler Perry a ‘thug?’ Is Tyler Posey? Will the new Teen Wolf movie (featuring TWO Tylers) be immediately banned for encouraging thuggish behaviour?

Connor is a nice name. Pleasant sounding, easy to spell, well know without being overused.

No, they just have that feel to me.. Vinnie is another one.

I also think girls flower names like Poppy and Lily are a bit wet.

None of this means that Vinnies are thuggish or Poppys are wet. They are just the feeling those names give me - and this is a forum on which people express opinions.

Untwist your knickers..,

Kanaloa · 02/12/2022 12:27

My knickers aren’t twisted at all - you’re saying that as an attempt to make me out as unreasonable when in fact all I’ve asked is why the names Connor and Tyler are inherently ‘thuggish.’ To which you have no real answer other than ‘they are thuggish to me.’

FayCarew · 02/12/2022 12:41

@Kanaloa , for some reason, there are names that associate the child with a certain socio-economic background. I'd say they were a bit like the Darren and Wayne names of my generation.
