I only came here to see if anyone else was thinking "Sean, Daniel or Balonz" 😅 @Savethedramaforyourmama

It's not a terrible name OP, bit maybe a bit of a mouthful to shout many times a day. 🤔😄

Sandysandwich · 30/11/2022 22:45

Awful name- really mean thing to do to a child.
Nobody deseves to be called bathazar, poor kid.

IDontWantToBeAPie · 30/11/2022 22:45

I actually know an adult Balthazar. It suits him. Nickname is Balthy

Numbat2022 · 30/11/2022 22:57

I really like it, and I was sort of considering it for my child (along with some far more common names). But when I actually had a baby in my arms I realised it was a daft name to choose, you can't name a tiny baby Balthazar unless your ego is the size of a planet or you live in a hippy bubble. So no.

Also no good nicknames. Balto will become Balti.

I think of theThree Wise Men (very good, magical) but also of Lawrence Durrell - a brilliant writer but an unstable and maybe a much - unspeakably - worse abusive parent. www.heraldscotland.com/news/12025336.a-man-pursued-by-furies/
Balthazar is the title of one of the books in Durrell's best-known and (at the time, 1950s) highly praised and remarkable 'Alexandria Quartet'.

Brother of the more genial Gerald 'My Family and Other Animals', if that helps.

More usually shortened to Bart, I think ...

Eleusa · 01/12/2022 18:13

It makes me think of the three wise men and also the restaurant.

Caspar is another option. Would probably give Melchior a skip.

Mirabai · 02/12/2022 22:22

Love. I’d call him Zar for short.

CurrentHun · 02/12/2022 22:33

Only if NN is Balonz

LeandraDear · 02/12/2022 22:34

I like it! It reminds me of the actor Balthazar Getty from Lord of the Flies and Young Guns 2.

He was big in the early 90s, loved him!

So Balthazar gets my vote! 👍🏼

YES! I had a huge crush on him but no one else seems to remember him. I also like it as a name OP.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 30/11/2022 19:48

Balthazar is a demon!

Lol. No it’s a traditional name for one of the wise men.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 02/12/2022 22:54

Ds2 was supposed to be balthazar

but i got a wee bit of pushback

as it is he now has a really common name…its the only name of the three of them that you can get on mugs and ornaments etc 😀

he would really have suited balthazar

Mirabai · 02/12/2022 22:54

Billslills · 03/12/2022 05:03

It’s a bit over the top but I don’t hate it. What about Bastian?

crimsonpeak · 03/12/2022 05:15

Notaligned · 30/11/2022 20:08

Love it. Went with one of the other wise men in the end because I wasn't brave enough.

Caspar or Melchior?

RheanaT · 03/12/2022 05:15

Guakamolly · 03/12/2022 05:19

Guakamolly · 03/12/2022 05:20

IggyAce · 03/12/2022 05:25
