Hazel
polly
Josephine

in no particular order

LT2 · 30/11/2022 09:53

Lucy or Rose

gaf · 30/11/2022 09:53

Katie
Tess
Anna

Really dislike Hazel, to me it’s stuck in the 80s.

Comedycook · 30/11/2022 09:54

Lucy and Anna. Both lovely, feminine but not frilly.

Really dislike Tess and Hazel... frumpy names imo

4yearsandwaiting · 30/11/2022 09:57

Lucy and Elizabeth.

AuntieSoap · 30/11/2022 10:06

Polly is a lovely name

NannyR · 30/11/2022 10:10

Josephine - I love Josie and Jo as shortenings/nicknames.

RandomMusings7 · 30/11/2022 10:10

Maria - no, too linked to religion
Hazel - cute, i like it
Polly - wants a cracker. No, it's too silly
Josephine - elegant
Lucy - alright
Rose - meh
Katie (Katherine on BC) - alright
Diana - classy and due a comeback. Travels well.
Elizabeth - meh
Anna - meh
Tess - meh. Maybe Theresa as a full name
Jane - too plain Jane.

So I vote either Hazel or Diana

chikp · 30/11/2022 10:11

Lucy

There aren't enough.

BuryingAcorns · 30/11/2022 10:13

I love Katie (Katherine), Lucy, Anna and Elizabeth if you use a nn. I think always calling a small Elizabeth is a bit of a mouthful but there are lovely shortened versions.

dream28 · 30/11/2022 10:14

Katie (Katherine on BC) - this is my favorite and I like the spelling with a K
other I like are Josephine, Rose, Tess, Lucy, Hazel, but it's really wonderful list

Kindthoughts · 30/11/2022 10:39

I love them all! You have similar taste to me.

Maria - Elegant. Reminds me of a lovely lady I once knew.
Hazel - This seems to be making a comeback.
Polly - This was on my short list, but gave my cat the name instead. Love it for a person too though!
Josephine - I like this shortened to Josie.
Lucy - My favourite on your list. This is the name I chose for the baby I lost in 2007.
Rose - I like but prefer the longer versions - Rosanna, Rosalie, Rosabella etc. That said, I love Rosie.
Katie (Katherine on BC) - I like this. My Gran was Kathleen so probably prefer this. I like the nn Kitty.
Diana - Pretty name with lovely associations.
Elizabeth - I like that there is a wide range of nn's for this one. My favourites are Betsy and Beth.
Anna - My daughter is Hannah, but I also like Anna or Annabelle.
Tess - I like this as an independent name.
Jane - I would like to see this in use again.

BabyFour2023 · 30/11/2022 10:43

Polly by a mile!

KirstenBlest · 30/11/2022 12:05

I like all of them but am adding comments anyway:
Maria - like but a bit religious (RC)
Hazel - like
Polly - like a lot
Josephine - too long, will be Jo or Josie, and Jo will get called Joanne by some
Lucy - loses points for being a bit too popular
Rose - overused as a middle name and a bit timid-sounding
Katie (Katherine on BC) - like a lot but prefer Kate
Diana - another thread suggests people would try to say it as Dee-arna (ugh!), otherwise very elegant
Elizabeth - can't go wrong but pick a diminutive (not Lilibet, Lily, Libby, Eliza, Elsie or Beth)
Anna - like it
Tess - like it but she'll get people lengthening to Tessa
Jane - like it a lot, but not as a middle name

I'd pick from Elizabeth (Lizzie or Bess), Jane, Polly, Kate, Tess or Anna

YorkshireMom · 30/11/2022 12:06

I like Elizabeth, Hazel and Jane

VerityKnox · 30/11/2022 12:08

Love Maria (classic) and Diana (due a comeback!)

Not keen on Jane or Elizabeth (boring) or Lucy, Polly, Katie (cutesy).

RuthW · 30/11/2022 12:26

JoyfulGirl · 30/11/2022 12:30

Josephine and Diana are my favourites. None of them are awful.

Tripsabroad · 30/11/2022 12:54

Favourite is Katherine. I love Josephine too.

I like all of them except Tess (although I like it if short for something) and Polly.

CoalCraft · 30/11/2022 13:25

Elizabeth and Katherine. Both lovely names that I'd have definitely considered if they weren't already used by close family.
