Is Annabell a nice spelling or does it look misspelt to you? We have Annabelle on our list but I'm leaning more towards Annabell now.
When I asked about Annabelle many people told me to use Annabel instead:
- Which spelling do you prefer and why?
- If you met someone named this, how would you spell it?
- Do you pronounce them differently?
- Which one is the original? Does anyone know?
Some comments on the spellings:
Annabell - is German and we have some heritage but the most important thing to me is that I sort of like the way it looks. Does it look misspelt to you or fine?
Annabelle - I really like it but I slightly emphasise the -belle part which I don't do for the other two. I like all pronunciations, though. Sometimes I worry about the doll or that it's too frilly.
Annabel - feels classic.
For some reason Annabell strikes the right balance for us. Annabelle is lovely but sometimes feels a bit much. Annabel is classic. Annabell feels classic but not frilly. She'll probably have to spell it anyway and I guess Annabell is easy to explain because you can say "two Ns and two Ls"?
