Hi, which name is better for daughter - Scarlett or Ophelia?Smile

I much prefer Scarlett

Ophelia has more syllables than I like and is open to having silly 'I feel ya' jokes made. And didn't Shakespeare's Ophelia have a tragic ending?

Sandysandwich · 17/11/2022 12:09

Scarlett

Scarlett

I’m not sure why Ophelia is so popular on here. It hasn’t got a nice sound to it at all. O feel ya is all I hear when it’s said 🥴

KirstenBlest · 17/11/2022 12:39

Scarlett. I don't understand the popularity of Ophelia on here either - it's too close to Feel ya.

Epicstorm · 17/11/2022 12:56

I don’t like Ophelia.
Scarlett is okay but in a recent reception class I had three of them so it depends whether the possibility of it being very popular matters to you.

ShesThunderstorms · 17/11/2022 12:58

Much prefer Ophelia. Not heard as often as Scarlett where I am- Scarlett is very popular.

GlassDeli · 17/11/2022 14:22

I prefer the sound of Scarlett. However I'm not sure I would go for either name, due to concern that people would make connections like scarlet woman or 'I feel ya'. I think Charlotte and Octavia would be the closest alternatives, but appreciate they might not be what you're looking for.

Suprima · 17/11/2022 14:27

Scarlett

Ophelia isn’t a nice namesake at all.

CrampMcBastard · 17/11/2022 14:29

Ophelia Tits is a joke name my OH uses.

ImNotOnTwitterButMySupportGoldfinchTweets · 17/11/2022 14:34

Haven’t they both had their moment? They were really popular 5-10 years ago.

YomAsalYomBasal · 17/11/2022 14:35

I loved the name Ophelia but I can never unhear the joke "Ophelia boobs"

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 17/11/2022 14:36

I'm far more refined.

I hear 'Ophelia Bottom'

inappropriateraspberry · 17/11/2022 14:37

Ophelia.
Scarlett is overused and personally, I don't like the double t on the end.

DurdleSnore · 17/11/2022 17:06

Scarlett

hassletassle · 17/11/2022 17:09

I love Ophelia and it was on my list but in the end I vito-d it because of its associations with death!

Mirabai · 17/11/2022 17:50

Scarlett is very dated now. Ophelia is still around but fnar is inevitable.
