My favourite three are:
Blythe
Romy
Hebe

Theoldwoman · 17/11/2022 12:58

Only two sorry

Beatrix (although I prefer Beatrice)
Asha

Our chicken is called Ginevra

AmandaMirandaPanda · 17/11/2022 13:15

I love Raya - had to look it up on dark greener as a pp described it as trendy and was surprised to see it was 203 in England/Wales in 2021! To me it's a classic and perhaps old fashioned Russian/Slavic name.

I like Hermione and Persephone in theory but not sure I'd use them. Also like other Greek -e names like Ariadne, Chloe, Daphne, Evadne, Ianthe, Ione, Ismene, Phoebe, Xanthe, Zoe. I like Damaris too. And Blythe, but it does get some strange pronunciations: I've heard people say it almost rhyming with dive or Clive.

Not a fan of Runa, Fabia, and Juniper.

Luellie · 17/11/2022 13:26

Oooh!

Runa - interesting, I like it!
Fabia - First thought Skoda, second was labia. Sorry!
Blythe - not keen
Beatrix - love this one
Raya - quite like it
Hera - just feels try-hard to me
Zinnia - not keen
Romy - no
Romilly - no
Romeilla - no. Just not a fan of the Rom names.
Hermione - beautiful name, not sure if it's over the Harry Potter association yet though.
Persephone - it's ok
Lucia - alright
Gianna - ehh
Ginevra - this one could grow on me
Mina - nice as a nickname for something else
Elowen - pretty
Hebe - it's giving the heebie jeebies
Darya/Daria - I LOVE Daria! But not so keen on the Y spelling, doesn't flow as nicely.
Dasha - not sure
Juniper - no, too trendy for me
Arwen - if you're welsh yes, otherwise I'd just assume you're too into Tolkien
Asha - nice
Damara - very pretty!

Polly1974 · 17/11/2022 13:32

I don't find any of them offensive as name choices are a very personal thing. Run them alongside your last name though and check out initials, you don't want a BO for example! I work in education and believe me, these are tame compared to some I've come across Shock x

Hobbesmanc · 17/11/2022 13:47

Lucia is lovely. And one of my favourite fictional heroines. Zinnia is a really pretty and underused flower name. I think one of the daughters was called Zinnia in The Darling buds of May.

FayCarew · 17/11/2022 14:32

Runa - dislike, looks too much like Rune
Fabia - Skoda
Blythe - Blyth, Northumberland
Beatrix - Potter
Raya - sunshine
Hera - ok
Zinnia - ok, flowery
Romy - roamy
Romilly - surname
Romeilla - looks made up
Hermione - ok, Harry Potter
Persephone - too long and Percy-phone
Lucia - Loosha, Lucy-a, Loo-chee-a
Gianna -isn't it just Jane?
Ginevra - ice and a slice?
Mina - meaner
Elowen - nice but it will get LON a lot. It's El Owen
Hebe geebie
Darya/Daria - Nott sure how to say it
Dasha - is it one off the reindeer?
Juniper - too trendy
Arwen - Ah when?
Asha - brimful of
Damara - Justin Elliott?

quietnightmare · 17/11/2022 14:40

Runa - sounds like rumour
Fabia - a car and not a good one
Blythe - it's a noise
Beatrix - cute but don't like 'beer' as nn
Raya - ok don't like nn ray
Heraklion - please don't
Zinnia - sounds like what a magician would say and there are prettier flower names
Romy - roming around
Romilly - Millie is nicer
Romeilla - Amelia is nicer
Hermione - lol
Persephone - posh Stephanie
Lucia - beautiful
Gianna - beautiful and nn Gigi
Ginevra - don't like the 'er' sounds
Mina - cute but nn 'mean'
Elowen - old fashioned
Hebe - no
Darya/Daria - makes me think of Darius
Dasha - preacher and vixen
Juniper - popular and makes me think of Jupiter
Arwen - boring
Asha - nn ash, no thank you
Damara - nn ' damn' is not cute

Luellie · 17/11/2022 16:18

Actually OP I'm amending the last comment I made... I've been thinking about Zinnia and I actually really like it now!

DurdleSnore · 17/11/2022 16:22

Top 3:

Beatrix
Lucia
Persephone

FredinBread · 17/11/2022 22:30

Romilly
Zinnia
Arwen

Always loved these but never knew of more than 1 or 2 etc

octoberfarm · 18/11/2022 13:42

Top 3 are Juniper, Lucia and Asha Smile

Ihavehadenoughalready · 19/11/2022 06:05

I guess Lucia is Ok. I don't like any of the others.

connie26 · 19/11/2022 06:59

None of them - sorry. Some sound like reindeer names!

pilates · 19/11/2022 07:15

I only like Lucia

Onekidnoclue · 19/11/2022 07:21

Love Lucia, Blythe and Romilly.

have you seen the film Blythe Spirit? It’s amazing! Elvira is a great name too.

ilo · 22/11/2022 01:37

DISLIKE
Runa (Luna)
Fabia (Fabienne?)
Romy
Romeilla (prefer Romilly)
Beatrix (Beatrice is better imo)
Raya
Hera
Ginevra
Dasha (sounds like one of Santa’s reindeer)
Damara (Tamara)

If I’m honest a lot of these sound like ‘made up’ names which I’m not keen on.

LIKE
Zinnia
Romilly
Hermione (A lovely name, but she’ll get Harry Potter comments for life)
Persephone
Lucia
Gianna
Mina (LOVE)
Elowen
Hebe (pronunciation might be difficult depending on where you are in the world)
Darya/Daria (would spell Daria)
Juniper
Arwen (LOVE)
Asha (LOVE)

If I was having a girl I’d happily call her most of these names.

DramaAlpaca · 22/11/2022 01:41

Our taste is completely different. Elowen is lovely but I don't like the rest.

urbanbuddha · 22/11/2022 01:41

Blythe
Romilly
Asha

shreddiesandmilk · 22/11/2022 01:49

Lucia
Hermione
Persephone
Juniper at a push

Beatrix
Romilly
Gianna
Hebe

Are all really pretty but just not to my taste

Ginevra just reminds me of Ginny Weasley since it was her full name and I really dislike it along side Daria, Blythe, Damara and Arwen. Zinnia is pretty but reminds me of Matilda's mum in Matilda and that is not a good association. I went to school with a girl called Fabia and she was called some mean nicknames that rhymed with it. Pretty name but I wouldn't risk it

Pamlar · 22/11/2022 10:49

WarriorsComeOutToPlayaaay · 17/11/2022 09:27

Not Fabia, they will be called Labia at school

Yes. I was going to say the same

MuchuseasaChocolateTeapot · 22/11/2022 20:53

Beatrix
lucia
Elowen

lovely!

Anymanyall · 22/11/2022 21:04

all dreadful sorry. Mix of ‘ I read Harry Potter, LOTR and like star wars’ obviousness coupled with a few old lady names (Blythe, Daria).

OddsocksinmyDocs · 22/11/2022 21:16

The only one I like is Beatrix Sad

motleymop · 22/11/2022 21:27

I don't understand the popularity of Juniper at all. It does not sound at all like it ought to be a human's name - a pet maybe.
