this thread is only for weird name nerds LOL.

I used to love Seraphina and Callisto, but switched to other names such as Cecily, Cordelia and Saskia

Loved Sophia, Amelie and Theo from about 1998 and then was waiting to have my own children one day only to see millions and millions of them around by the time I actually had my own. They lost their charm to me so didn’t use.

Most names that have become dull from overuse. So pretty much most top 20 names

Maybebabyno2 · 18/11/2022 23:02

Jude, just didn't like it when the time came.

Dreamingcats · 18/11/2022 23:03

Jeffrey. Too many criminals with the name!

Girls names:
Estella - Cruella ruined it for me
Cecilie - no explanation needed, linked too closely to murders
Rosalie - too much like twilight
Margaux - not keen on the x
Pippa - family friends name
Celeste - same as cecilie
Arwen - changed my mind on it
Averie - meh not keen anymore
Violet - too overused
Sasha - outgrown the name
Mia - knew a girl I didn't like with the name
Daisy- Family member named it
Evie- Family member named it
Ivy-Family member named it

boys names:
christopher- don't like it anymore
Matthew/Matthias - too common
Geralt - went through a weird Witcher phase
Connor - loved it for ages then people told me it was a 'known council estate name'
Theo - just not keen anymore
Oliver - young cousin was named that
kian - too common

Overall my name tastes of names I haven't commented have grown to be slightly more bohemian

When I was little I always thought my future children would be called Jessica and Tobias.

I still think they're both lovely names tbh, though others have come through in top. In general I'm not keen on names ending in vowel-sounds so probably wouldn't have considered Jessica now, but if I'd had a boy Tobias would still have been on the list, albeit quite low down.

I also used to like Victoria but am not a fan now.

ScruffMuffin · 19/11/2022 18:15

Bethan - we now have several other Beths/ Bethanys in the family so wouldn't use it.
Maya/ Maia - was put off when my mum started pronouncing it wrong
Thomas - the only boys' name we agreed on, then I got a naughty one in my class
Lily - now vastly popular
Elias - also now popular
Grace - yawn

Mindystryder · 19/11/2022 18:33

Victoria, Matilda, Penelope - never had a girl and also all used by friends now so on the off chance I did conceive again, I'd have to have a serious think! I quite like Esther now but that's a relative's name so possibly not...

George, Sebastian, Nathaniel - again, loved them all but they were never top of the list and now all used by friends.
