What is your favourite of these virtue names?

I understand that you like the names but why would you want to saddle a young woman with a name like that in this day and age? Why not Obedience while you're at it?

I hear this a lot - about the pressure on a child. And one of my best friends is a VERY ungraceful Grace. Which I love about her, actually, I think part of what I love most about her is this fact (among many many other things)! I can also understand the Joy thing putting pressure on a child (obviously imagining a very grumpy Joy).

But I always wonder about people saying the name Mercy putting pressure on a child. Like it gives me this brilliant image of a Vlad the Impaler type child storming around the neighbourhood causing suffering and pain everywhere she goes and everyone’s like ‘Ha! I bet her parents feel stupid calling her Mercy now!’ 😂 Like what kind of person would you have to be for the name Mercy to be inappropriate for you? I’m a teacher and I don’t think I know any little girls ruthless and/or cruel enough to not suit the name Mercy 😁 It always makes me laugh (lighthearted - I appreciate your comment but it always makes me smile!)

Because I think they’re all symbols of incredible strength and good character 😊 And beautiful sounding as well, of course!

Yes I really do like it! Do you have any ideas for middle names yet?

I know someone called Loveness. Not quite a virtue name but nicer in many ways.

Then why not go for Courage, Resilience, Independence, Strength?,

I think virtue names are quite hard to live up to.

The only ones i really like are

Verity
Grace
Hope

Fly-Fornication would certainly be a memorable one.

I think Honor is my fave though. Hope and Faith are a bit drippy.

Prudence is lumpen and ugly.

Constance.

Faith but then that's the name I used. I also really like Constance.

I like Hope. And Grace.
Faith is OK.
Don't like Constance as a name. Or Mercy.
Prefer other 'Joy' names such as Allegra, Freya, Hilary rather than Joy itself

I like virtue names as well.

I briefly flirted with the idea of Temperance when pg. DH pointed out that anyone who knew me would think I was trolling the poor child.

I also like Deliverance. But no-one could possibly call a child that.

LOVE Liberty.

Oh and i LOVE Honour.

I love Verity and Patience. I nearly called my DD Honor but chickened out.

I like Verity and Merry ( not Mercy ) .

I like Mercy but I keep thinking of that awful song in the charts a few years back - was it Duffy?
Faith: Faye/Fay is a bit too popular though, so she might get called Fay a lot, and there's the f for th issue - sounds like Fife in some accents.
Hope is a bit hopeless
Joy would probably be a misery

Girl in my school was called Loveday.

Faith, Hope, Constance and Joy all lovely.
Less keen on Mercy.

I also like Verity and Liberty, oh and Felicity.

I think Honour is lovely!!
