I know it’s a bit much. But if Valentina is usable, is Constantina? I love nn Connie but DH doesn’t like Constance 😒

I think that's nice.
Although it does make me think of concertina.

QueenVictoria11 · 12/11/2022 04:21

yes its a beautiful name - and easily shortened - Connie

Spookypig · 12/11/2022 06:46

Thanks both!

Do you prefer Constantina or Constantine?

MamaNell · 12/11/2022 07:02

Connie is lovely just call her that.

Constantine is a man's name 😬 so use Constance or Constantina if you want a long version

Chomolungma · 12/11/2022 07:04

I love Constance and Connie but not sure about Constantina - sorry. How about just Connie?

DesignerRecliner · 12/11/2022 07:05

Constance - Constantina sounds very... Tyson Fury Blush

ChimChimeny · 12/11/2022 07:07

It's just a bit of A mouthful. Why can't you just use Connie?

OneCup · 12/11/2022 07:14

It may get shortened to Tina too. Don't know how you feel about this?

PAFMO · 12/11/2022 07:24

Valentina is Italian.
Where is Constantina from? Because in Italian, what you're looking at would be Costanza.
Connie is lovely, I'd go with just that tbh!

HuntingoftheSnark · 12/11/2022 07:46

Coraline, Conchita, Cornelia? Constantina is a bit of a mouthful and as a PP says, may be shortened to Tina.

RenoDakota · 12/11/2022 07:57

Sounds ugly and clunky. Couldn't you just use Connie as the actual name? (which is lovely)

user1492757084 · 12/11/2022 08:16

No, it's too close to a name your husband doesn't like.

maplesaucewithbacon · 12/11/2022 08:20

Although it does make me think of concertina.

Likewise. But if she is going to be a Connie probably all through school, than that probably doesn't matter.

What about Christina as another alternative?

RandomMusings7 · 12/11/2022 08:36

Corinne/Corrina?

Coralie?

Luredbyapomegranate · 12/11/2022 10:00

It is but I think Constancia is a lot nicer

Con-stan-see-ah

sopeas · 12/11/2022 10:29

Connie is lovely, I would just use that!
Constantina is a bit of a mouthful imo. Constance is much better but if that’s a no go I’d say stick with Connie!

Spookypig · 12/11/2022 10:40

Constantine is actually unisex! We have a (male) relative named Constantine who it would be lovely to honour!

Constantina is the actual name of St Constance, I discovered it when reading about her.

As for Tina, I don’t like it, but we live abroad and traditionally nicknames don’t emerge organically but are set from birth, chosen by parents or grandparents (often totally unrelated to the actual name of the person!) so we can choose the nickname quite easily.

We can’t use just Connie I think. Our other children have full names with nicknames so I think it would feel odd to have one named with just the nickname? I know names don’t have to match but it’s the kind of thing that would bother me, I think. I love Connie though!

Actually the relative is Konstantin but you get the point !

Dogtooth · 12/11/2022 10:43

Sounds too much like concertina (musical instrument) to me! The double t sound trips your tongue up.

Constanza or Constancia?

Spookypig · 12/11/2022 11:39

Constancia is nice!

But you know what, my DH is fickle. He said no to my other children’s names and I slowly wore him down and before the kids were born he adored their names! I bet I could do the same with Constance - worth a try 😂

Is Constance the nicest version of the name, do you think?

Trees6 · 12/11/2022 11:44

Constance or Constanza would be my prefrrrrd long versions. Connie is a really lovely nickname.

GlassDeli · 12/11/2022 11:55

I really like Constantina. It's very pretty, travels well, and is just as easy to say as some of the other 4 syllable names which are regularly suggested on here (Seraphina, Evangeline, Angelina, Leonora, Georgiana et al)

MollieMarie · 12/11/2022 13:52

Constance NN Connie would be better

VenusClapTrap · 12/11/2022 14:21

I think it’s a very pretty and unusual name, if a little on the long side. I do prefer Constance though personally. Connie is adorable.

bodill · 13/11/2022 13:52

It's the kind of name that I think would sound fine on a European woman, but on a British woman it would seem a bit too "much".

I think Constance works best in the UK.
