Are these names too similar for cousins?

I know anyone can choose any name they want. But I am close to my family and expect the girls to be fairly close, and they won’t be part of a big ‘batch’ of cousins, there will only be a few of them. They would not be at same school, and would also not share surname.

I like it. It sounds like a pair of girls from a Children’s adventure story.

No not at all. I thought you meant for siblings and even then I think ok. Miranda could be another option in place of Marina if you like it.

Not at all. As siblings I may say too much of a mouthful to say together frequently, but I think they sound so lovely together for cousins. I love the PP comment about a children's adventure book. 😍

Or Rowan for Rowena.

But I think the original combination would be fine. Both are lovely names.

I wouldn't do it for siblings but absolutely fine for cousins.

I strongly dislike Rowena.

Rowan is lovely and sounds like Enid Blyton when paired with Marina.

GlassDeli · 06/11/2022 14:33

They're both lovely names, of a similar style but not too similar.

Yep

They could be Ro and Rina.

SummaLuvin · 07/11/2022 08:54

Thanks for replies. It pretty much confirmed what I thought, but sometimes it's hard to be unbiased when you love a name!

Rowena is very, very commonly misheard as Marina so for that reason I would say yes they are far too similar!

Dogmum11 · 09/11/2022 12:19

My name is Rowannah (Ro-Anna) and I I realllllly disliked being called miscalled Rowena as a young girl/teenager as it sounds so old fashioned IMO.
