Rhonda, Ronnie, Ronald, Veronica and some others - too old fashioned?

Thoughts on:

Rhonda, Ronda
Ronnie
Veronica

Ron
Ronald

They are not on my list at the moment but I watched a movie with a little girl called Rhonda in it and I thought it sounded very cute on her. It could also be spelt Ronda.

Ronnie seems to be rising like crazy for boys but I personally think it's cute as a nickname for a girl, for Rhonda or Veronica or something else.

Ronald is one I could see coming back as well with there being a Ron in Harry Potter.

Quite ron-heavy. Perhaps a Reginald?

Purplecatshopaholic · 05/11/2022 12:43

All awful - sorry.

RosesAndHellebores · 05/11/2022 12:44

Roland - can be shortened to Roly.
Rhona?

Nothing wrong with old fashioned names.

It will be boring if we all continue to name our kids oliver and olivia and any other of the names that seem to have been popular for the last 5 years.
I personally don't like any of the names youve mentioned but if you like them it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.

MissyB1 · 05/11/2022 12:59

Like them all except Ronald (Ronnie Kray and Mcdonalds spring to mind)

Veronica is beautiful, Rhonda is nice but I prefer Rhona.

I think they are very clumpy - Veronica is a bit better than Rhonda (and at least she could call herself Nico!) but they both make me think of a middle aged heavy set barmaid who’s had a Hard Life.

I think Ron/ald is similarly lumpy.

I know a Rhonda and it really suits her. Veronica nn Roni is quite nice.
Rona is nice.

Wow I thought for sure this thread would be about honouring a Ron. 😅

I worked with a Rhona once and she was lovely, so I like that. No to the others I'm afraid.

Longdarkcloud · 06/11/2022 19:26

I think Veronica has traditionally been used by RC families and has religious overtones.
what about Verona?
Rhonda is ok and not too stuffy because it’s never been mega popular.

User6761 · 06/11/2022 23:25

Dislike Rhonda but have always loved Rhona.

Yika · 06/11/2022 23:50

Veronica is nice.

what about the Nordic / Baltic name Ronja / Ronia.

Not so crazy about Ronald or Rhonda personally but each to their own.
