Baby boy name - help!

Hello12345532 · 04/11/2022 03:45

Hi! Please help us. Our second baby boy was born on Saturday afternoon but we are struggling to decide on a name. Our first son is Theodore who goes by Teddy or Ted. We like names that are in the sweet spot of not too popular but not too unusual (we choose Theodore before it became popular!).

We have managed to get it down to four names. Please can you let us know your thoughts on which one we should go for:

Luca
Hugo
Ellis
Jesse (although not sure this goes well with our sons name)

Luca!

Fantastic name. And "bringer of light" is meaningful.

Teddy and Luca combines nicely.

Congratulations on his safe arrival, whatever he ends up being called Flowers

I like Luca and Jesse.

I like Ellis ( congrats btw)

although Teddy and Oscar is nice

I know a Theodore and Remus (Remy for short) and always thought it was a solid combo

Luca gets my vote!

When you say the names out loud when looking at him, what does he "look like".

Other option if names in a hat and when you pick one if there is any feeling of disappointment on reading it then you'll know what you want!

Ducksurprise · 04/11/2022 04:48

I'd say none of them if after a week they still don't fit.

Christopher/Christian nn Kit

Rory

Finlay/Finn

I know a sibling set called Teddy and Luca, they work so well!

But Luca and Hugo are also growing in popularity in my area in the last 2/3 years so if you wanted to avoid too popular name, then I'd go Ellis based on that.

Dreamingcats · 04/11/2022 07:40

I like Luca and Jesse.

I know lots of baby Hugos, and if Theodore ever decides he prefers Theo it's a bit matchy matchy. So I wouldn't choose that one.

Riverlee · 04/11/2022 07:42

I like Ellis. Maybe also Elliott.

KirstenBlest · 04/11/2022 08:08

Hugo goes best with Teddy

sopeas · 04/11/2022 08:16

Like a PP said - If after a week none of them seem right to you maybe you need some other suggestions?
love that same PPs suggestion of Christopher nn Kit. Theodore (Teddy/Theo) and Christopher (Kit/Chris) sound great together!

Snugglemonkey · 04/11/2022 08:27

From your list, Hugo, but I also agree with pp that Teddy and Kit are lovely together.

Northtosouth · 04/11/2022 08:50

I like Luca best.
Hugo is very popular but if that doesn’t bother you it also goes nicely.
I don’t think Ellis or Jesse go with Teddy. I also like Oscar and Kit as pp have suggested.

grayhairdontcare · 04/11/2022 16:40

I like them all.
Also like Montgomery nn Monty
Rafe
Tobias nn Toby
