Due a baby boy soon. Really want Benjamin but I have a second cousin Benjamin who is 25. Does this matter???

what do you prefer Benjamin, George, Frederick or Arthur?

I like Benjamin the most. How often do you see this second cousin? Unless he is very involved in your family life I don't think it matters.

Of your list, Benjamin is by far the best. A second cousin once removed is not a very close relation.

As long as it doesn’t bother you it’s not a problem. You might get a few comments but especially as it’s such a common name and assuming you’re not close there’s no reason you shouldn’t use it. Personally I wouldn’t repeat a name in my family though.

I prefer Frederick! Classic name that travels well.

Arthur and George are ok, but I fine Benjamin a little dated - it was fashionable 15 years or so ago.

I didn’t choose a certain name because a distant cousin had the same name. I’ve only seen the cousin once in all the years since my child was born - I deeply regret not using the name. Go with Benjamin if you love it.

I'm giving my DD the same name as a 2nd cousin. I have met her once, at a wedding 12 years ago! If I saw her very regularly then I probably wouldn't use it.

second cousin is such distant relation, it doesn't matter. Name him Benjamin as you love the name.

My DH has a cousin with the same name as one of our DC - I've never met said cousin and neither of us are likely to meet him any time soon...maybe a funeral in the future.

I wouldn't worry about a 25 yr old second cousin. I don't think there are going to be many occasions when they get mixed up.
