Inspired by another post about mums should have more say in naming their baby… if it was down to you alone to make that choice what would their names be?
my partner vetoed all the names I wanted for my 4 children. He said I was naming future adults not pets….
I wanted Rocco, Rio, Meadow and Dolly.
I Really had to compromise… we have Theodore, Joseph, Charlotte and Vivienne.
I have always called them Teddy, Joey, Lottie and Vivi.
The boys are now teens and like to be known as Theo and Joe.
Lottie never uses her full name. Vivi is only 3 so time will tell.

I named my cats meadow and dolly 😐😬

My vetoed names were:

Elspeth
Anastasia
Marianne

Harris
Calum

I have an Elspeth - I’ve never seen it mentioned on here before!

my children would have the same names. It was more important to DH that the children had his surname so we compromised that I’d have my choice of first name. Luckily he liked the names I picked.

although saying that if he had have really hated them I wouldn’t have forced it.

muchprefersummer · 25/10/2022 21:57

I desperately wanted a Fred - wasn't allowed it but did get my second choice!

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 25/10/2022 21:58

Matilda and Barnaby.

gogohmm · 25/10/2022 22:00

I chose my kids names, traditional biblical names that are suitable for their lives ahead wherever that takes them, one is moving overseas and her name is a name there

@StarryKnight

An Elspeth mum here too! There is also one in my older dds gym class

AssignedSlytherinAtBirth · 25/10/2022 22:13

Joel and Tabitha

Allsnotwell · 25/10/2022 22:17

I would have chosen Clara, Maryanne and Jacob.
Didn’t even make middle names.

Sager · 25/10/2022 22:17

River and Ezra

oviraptor21 · 25/10/2022 22:25

Erica Imogen Dylan Connor

Pearfacebanana · 25/10/2022 22:29

I love my children's names and quite happy with them.

There were a couple vetoe'd though that I had loved for years- Honor and Genevieve - still love them and would have quite liked as middle names!

OddshoesOddsocks · 25/10/2022 22:34

Arietty, Cassius, Atticus, Connor and Astrid all vetoed! As was Lydia because ‘chlamydia Lydia’ 🙄

M2551 · 25/10/2022 22:50

I, mummy, named both our kids but had to take into account many things (mixed culture + heritage) and made compromises.

Otherwise, my faves were Joshua + Mariella

heyytheredelilah · 25/10/2022 22:53

I love some of these names!! Clementine is gorgeous.

The compromise for me was finding a name that had good nickname potential. But that also fit my partners criteria of being quite traditional.
I couldn’t ever imagine Lottie as a Meadow now. 😬 or Vivi as a Dolly!
Vivienne was my favourite compromise, as I do love the full name as well as her nickname. We get lots of comments on her name.

I also have an Elspeth! It’s quite a rare name I think…

I wanted Angus for DS. Wasn’t allowed.

Lindengericht · 25/10/2022 23:01

Stella or Bramble for a girl.

Ralph or Elliott for a boy.

Bramble is so lovely! Not heard of that as a name before.
