Baby names

If it was only your decision, what would your babies names be?

Inspired by another post about mums should have more say in naming their baby… if it was down to you alone to make that choice what would their names be?
my partner vetoed all the names I wanted for my 4 children. He said I was naming future adults not pets….
I wanted Rocco, Rio, Meadow and Dolly.
I Really had to compromise… we have Theodore, Joseph, Charlotte and Vivienne.
I have always called them Teddy, Joey, Lottie and Vivi.
The boys are now teens and like to be known as Theo and Joe.
Lottie never uses her full name. Vivi is only 3 so time will tell.

I named my cats meadow and dolly 😐😬

Wow you did compromise OP! I know a little girl called Dolly, she’s very cute!

I really, really wanted to call DD Valentina. DH was having none of it. She has a top 50 name but we haven’t actually ever met another. I have since met 2 Valentinas and I’ve been very jealous both times

I wanted Killian for a boy or Eloise for a girl, both were very quickly vetoed by DH!

DD would have been Harriet, with the stress very much on the first syllable.

DH reckoned she'd be known as "Harry-ett" and veto'd it.

I do love my 2nd choice name which is what she's actually called.

We really struggled to pick a boys name we both liked. DS would have been Peter or Joseph if id had my way.

DDs name was easily agreed by both of us.

I have two boys (now grown up).

My all-time favourite boys' names are Richard and Matthew, with Adam as a possible third choice. Around the time of DS1's birth I was also quite keen on the name Jago.

We actually came fairly close to using Richard, but decided on a different name with a rather similar feel in the end.

So if it was just me - possibly Jago Richard and Matthew Adam. We didn't actually use any of those names, but I like the names we did use.

Gorgeous kitties @Daffodilis and I adore their names. Makes my cat names feel very boring.

Is one of them having a face off with a squirrel?? 😂

I had a huge love for Indiana for DD1.

Not one person I ever mentioned it to like it.

Wasn't even allowed to use it for the cat (or the kitten we just adopted)

Svala and Ingimar. Such beautiful names, both vetoed for reminding DP of various pop culture references.

I think I'm on the wrong post, or the right one and I've had a major brain freeze, my apologies

Marleybone, Miss Sunnygirl and Little Miss Bobble, named by my sons. I didn't have any ideas of names when I got them and they are their names now.

My middle child is named Indie if it was down to me alone her name would be Edie. I love it so much but she does suit her name

For Ds I really wanted to call him George (well before the Prince) but DH said no. I'm pleased with the name we came up with together.

For DD I preferred a number of names including Mellissa, Erin and Alice. Alice was probably my favourite but DH got stuck on a name and wouldn't budge. At the time I thought we would be having a third so I gave in thinking I could push for my choice... that didn't work out as we only had two!

Pre-children I always wanted Beau and Belle.

I really wanted Pearl for DD (she's a June baby). Also loved Flora but DH couldn't get past the margarine thing! But he wanted to call DS Emilio and I put my foot down...

I named my dds on my own anyway. I have no regrets.

I shan't have another but if I did I really like Bronwyn shortened to Ronnie. And yes I am Welsh.

So you should know that -wyn is the male ending and -wen is female!

I wanted Georgiana and Sebastian, both family names and both vetoed by dp as being too ‘posh’. I’m ‘posh’ (from an old money family, which is now running out of said money so not so posh any longer 😂) and he’s working class and we never notice our differences really except with baby names, which we cannot agree on. Babe arrives in two months and we have no names for he or she 😂
