I also think Dottie Louise flows particularly well.

I thought Lousie

Dorothea Louise is a great name
Dottie or LouLou both permissible

That names maybe sounds cutsie for a new baby, but sounds silly as a grown women. Why do folk do this? Why not get a puppy and call her Dottie?

Hope she doesn't ever have acne

My husband has a great aunt who’s a bit bonkers. She’s known as the ‘dotty aunt’.

To me it’s a disparaging term. Too silly to be an actual name.

I think the op is a wind up.

I'm quite old (60) but remember an act who did the rounds called Dottie and Dickie. Middle aged couple who performed naked. First thing that came to me sorry

Why are people suggesting objects like flowers as a middle name? Naming a kid a dotty rose? dotty ivy? 😄
I can’t suggest anything that would make me personally like ‘Dottie’, but maybe a full name, less twee, with a better meaning.

ODFOx · 25/10/2022 20:00

Dottie is lovely. It does seem very 'pet name' though. If you register Dorothy or Dorothea you get Dottie while she's little and then Dory, Dora, Thea or Dorothy when she wants to choose herself.
Whether Dottie or Dorothy, pick a name without a y sound.
Dottie Ann
Dottie Rae
Dottie Louise
Dottie Joanna
Congratulations!

Emmagr1 · 25/10/2022 20:02

Dottie May

Keep it simple

heyytheredelilah · 25/10/2022 20:11

I worked in a nursery once with a little girl named Dottie Bluebelle.
Also had a little girl named Dorothea, known as Dottie.

Yup

Pseudonymminymie · 25/10/2022 20:18

Go with Dorothea, and if you must call her Dottie as a pet name. She can then choose to shorten it to Thea in due course...which actually sounds quite grown up and nice.

lmnabc · 25/10/2022 20:37

When she's pursuing a serious career she may prefer to be called Dorothy or Dorothea and have her friends and family call her Dottie. Just a thought Smile

nannync · 25/10/2022 21:07

I can't imagine having to introduce myself at a meeting at work as Dottie. I'd feel so silly.

Call her Dorothy so she can make her own choice when she's older.

Dorothy Elizabeth is lovely

BillyBigBillicks · 25/10/2022 21:56

I wouldn't even like to guess how many "names" there are on this planet so it's pretty obvious that different people like different names.
There are lots of names I wouldn't name my children / dogs / cats / hamsters but I wouldn't be rude or even voice an opinion about someone else's name choice......especially when it was not the question even asked!
Dottie Wren sounds lovely!

Theskyisfallingdown · 25/10/2022 22:10

Dottie wren is describing a spotty bird though.

thesunwillout · 25/10/2022 22:11

Marguerite

You're welcome 😁

Luredbyapomegranate · 25/10/2022 22:22

PLEASE call her Dorothea or Dorothy

Dottie is sweet as a nn but she may not want a nursery name when she’s older, there’s also the fact it’s a twee word for crazy - Dotty is Potty etc - I still like it as a nn, but seriously seriously not as a full name
