Names close to Diana

Can anyone suggest names that could be close to Diana? Would prefer not an ‘a’ sound at the end due to our last name. It’s a family name of great emotional value I would love to use, but also not keen on the royal connotations. We like modern, quite short names generally as our last name is quite long and I don’t like repetitive sounds in a name. Thanks!

Artemis? Diana is the Roman goddess closely associated with Artemis the Greek goddess.

RebOrHon · 20/10/2022 14:01

Davina? Same sort of vintage feel as Diana.

RebOrHon · 20/10/2022 14:02

Or Donna if you’re feeling retro!

Dee?

caringcarer · 20/10/2022 14:04

Lianne pronounced Lee Ann.

Wetblanket78 · 20/10/2022 14:13

Dian means divine wouldn't have as a first name though. She will spend her whole life correcting people how it's spelt.

Season0fTheWitch · 20/10/2022 14:19

Deon/Dionne.

indecisivehippo · 20/10/2022 14:43

Wow thanks all! I really like davina - I’m just not wanting the ‘a’ sound really.. also like Artemis but in our culture I think it would be a bit jarring to use a classical name…

Though realise Diana was used and in itself is classical haha

Maybe have it as is for the middle name as it’s a special name in your family. It’s hard when we don’t know you surname but surely it wouldn’t matter too much as baby will likely be known by first and surname generally so pick a first name that “goes” with your surname and have Diana in the middle

indecisivehippo · 20/10/2022 14:46

We have a middle name already which is another family name- unfortunately they are not a good combination but I can’t post as would be very outing!!

Last name is both our names so a pain to match and sounds very clunky on its own but that’s what we settled on 🤣 my first child therefore has a very short name!
