Hi guys, due baby number 2 in January. Our DS is called Harrison and he is 3yo.
We can't decide on which name to go with.. Mia or Jasmine?

Mia - I love the name but is it too popular now? Does it look too short against Harrison?
Jasmine - Such a pretty name, also not too common which I love.

Any opinions welcome :)

Thanks!

Same as you say I would go Jasmine as there are so many Mias (and various versions of it). They’re both lovely though!

Jasmine

TootsAtOwls · 20/10/2022 11:46

I think Mia goes better with Harrison. Jasmine sounds a bit too similar next to it!

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 20/10/2022 11:46

I do know a lot of Mias. Nothing wrong with the name as such, but it does seem a bit overdone at this point.

Jasmine is lovely.

Much prefer Jasmine.

FennelAndOnions · 20/10/2022 12:45

Jasmine. Mia is definitely overdone and is one of those that just gets paired with Rose/Grace.

DesolationRow · 20/10/2022 12:49

They’re both lovely but I’d choose Jasmine simply because it’s less commonly used.

TabithaTittlemouse · 20/10/2022 12:50

I really dislike Jasmine. It’s very common here.

Izzywhizzyisverybusy · 20/10/2022 12:51

Jasmine

Eunoia · 20/10/2022 13:05

Jasmine is lovely, and flows really well with Harrison.

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 20/10/2022 13:12

Jasmine. Mia is overdone and really quite dull.

Northtosouth · 20/10/2022 13:18

Jasmine is lovely

caitlinrose · 20/10/2022 13:25

Mia is overused and doesn't stand out. So many girls with similar names.

Jasmine is pretty but feels dated. Most Jasmines I know are in their late 20s and early 30s.

I personally find the english pr. of Jasmine a bit harsh. In many countries it sounds more like yas-meen which I prefer.

Out of these I'd pick Jasmine but overall I think I'd prefer Yasmine, said yas-meen.

Julitta32 · 20/10/2022 13:26

I prefer Jasmine, but Mia is also nice name

FennelAndOnions · 20/10/2022 13:47

I don’t get the appeal of Mia, it’s a bit whiny. Like a noise.

Pinpot · 20/10/2022 13:47

Jasmine! So so beautiful

Luredbyapomegranate · 20/10/2022 18:23

Jasmine 💯 it’s rather lovely

Mia is done to death and the 3 pronunciation confusion will be annoying

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 20/10/2022 18:32

Jasmine is a beautiful name . I went to school with a Mia … she was a bitch , so I really don’t like it . But if you do use it , I think it sounds good with Harrison.

FreshCop · 20/10/2022 20:58

You could go for Jasmine Mia which is nice

YourVagesty · 20/10/2022 21:13

I really dislike Jasmine. It’s very common here.

Same.

DramaAlpaca · 20/10/2022 23:09

Jasmine, it's lovely.

Mia is insubstantial and twee.
