That's a good long list for this stage.

As the pregnancy progresses you might narrow that list down a bit.

TescoCustomerService · 14/10/2022 17:34

Cora and Francis are nice names, all the other ones either scream "oshkosh b'gosh" or are something most people call their pet bulldog.

ReadtheReviews · 14/10/2022 17:35

All nice bar Prudence (frumpy fat librarian) and Evangeline unless you are confident theyll be a French speaking supermodel. Maxwell because it's a not very nice surname name and Caspar unless they are going to be a handsome metrosexual blond with a career in the City.
I love the baby name board Grin

nelliebear8 · 14/10/2022 17:36

I love Clementine, Evangeline, Edward, Oscar, and Felix.

Thisisnotmyname2 · 14/10/2022 21:25

Love Cora Rose Clementine and Jude. Also like Evie/Eve short for Evangeline or Genevieve.

Not keen on Rex or Felix as they seem more like pet names to me. Also really don't like Prudence sorry. There are much nicer girls names on your list.

Mumofgirls2017 · 14/10/2022 21:37

Madeleine- like but assoc with McCann
Clementine- love
Cora- love
Georgiana- bit fussy
Rose- ok
Prudence- noooo

Boys:
Atticus- love
Felix- like
Caspar- love
Maxwell- ok
Jude- ok
Edward- love
Oscar- meh
Rex- love
Rupert- like

HighlandPony · 14/10/2022 21:38

Cora, Evangeline and Francis are your best choices I think

Pixilicious1 · 14/10/2022 21:41

Cora and Jude

NessieMcNessface · 14/10/2022 21:43

Clementine Rose
Atticus Rex

SatinHeart · 14/10/2022 21:43

Clementine (nn Clemmie) is lovely. I met one recently, she was very sweet. I also like Rose.

Cora is always popular on MN, but to be honest I think Cara sounds much nicer.

Felix and Maxwell are nice. I like Oscar too, but it's super popular right now and there are millions round my way.

ofwarren · 14/10/2022 21:52

Madeleine - I like and would pronounce Mad eh lin, not mad eh line

Clementine - I like it but really dislike Clem or Clemmy

Cora - lovely

Georgiana - not a fan. It's a bit of a mouthful

Rose - nice but a bit boring. Possibly better as a middle name

Prudence - I like virtue names but mumsnet does not. This is a good one imo

Evangeline - mumsnet seems to love this name. I find it harsh sounding. Sounds like Evangelist.

Genevieve - I don't like. Another mouthful and I don't like Ginny.

Atticus - Don't hear this one much. I quite like

Felix - This is a cat food brand so no

Caspar - No, he's the friendly ghost

Maxwell - No, cheapo coffee brand

Jude - Feminine sounding. The name of my friends Aunt.

Edward - I've never been a fan of this name. I'm not sure why. Really hate Ted and Teddy

Oscar - The grouch off Sesame Street. Completely overdone

Rex - My childhood dogs name

Rupert - This is in the realm of Tarquin to me.

Frances - Wet name. Really dislike.

S25 · 14/10/2022 21:59

Love Genevieve! (So many nn options- G, Gen, Genny, Ginny, Vi, Vivi, Vieve)

TheBirdintheCave · 14/10/2022 23:22

Cut Maxwell (as it's a surname) or replace with Maximilian or Macsen if Max is what you like. Also cut Rex as you would literally be naming your child 'king'.

The rest are perfectly serviceable names. Good list.

Fivebeanchilli · 14/10/2022 23:34

Girls:
Madeleine - ok. I don't love it but it's fine
Clementine - nice but you'll always have the -teen Vs -tyne thing (I automatically say -teen)
Cora - ok. I prefer Cara
Georgiana - nice.
Rose - nice (much nicer than the other Rose names)
Prudence - I don't mind some virtue names but this one is a bit prissy for me
Evangeline - ok. Feels a very "big"name
Genevieve - I love the French pronunciation, hate the English one...

Boys:
Atticus - gorgeous
Felix - lovely but very popular
Caspar - gorgeous but I prefer the Casper spelling myself
Maxwell - much much much less nice than your other names
Jude - I love this
Edward - nice enough
Oscar - lovely but very very popular
Rex - ok
Rupert - nice but Rufus is better
Francis - don't like. Too pope like

Unusually I prefer your boy list to your girl list.
I would go for:

Atticus or Casper with Jude as the middle name (but Rufus if that was an option or Sebastian or Benedict if you wanted suggestions)

and

Rose or Georgiana with Madeleine or Clementine as the middle name. But I would pick Cara if it were an option (and Celeste or Seraphine if you wanted suggestions of names with a similar feel).

FayCarew · 16/10/2022 12:54

Madeleine - nice but I don't like Maddie/Mads
Clementine - satsuma
Cora - ok
Georgiana - prefer Georgina
Rose - not as a middle name
Prudence - like
Evangeline yet another Evie
Genevieve - nice in a French accent, otherwise niot
Boys:
Atticus- no
Felix - ok
Caspar - like
Maxwell - ok
Jude - don't like
Edward - not keen on Ted, don't like Ned
Oscar- not keen
Rex - like but it's a bit trendy
Rupert - not keen
Francis - nice as a middle name, not keen on Frank

PearlSupernova · 16/10/2022 17:50

Thanks for all your helpful feedback, it’s really given us food for thought. Hubbys favourite girls name is Prudence, which I do like, but it seems a bit of a marmite name.

hubby has veto’ed Felix and Caspar (my favourites) Rex is his favourite, but I’m not sure… we may have found a compromise in Raphael… what do you think?

TheBirdintheCave · 16/10/2022 18:43

@PearlSupernova Raphael and Prudence are great :)

HorsingAround2022 · 16/10/2022 19:55

I loved Clementine, until a friend said she’d be called Clammy Clemmie at school.

Whatalife88 · 16/10/2022 20:18

Girls:
Madeleine - I like it but can't help but think of Maddie Mccann .

Clementine- No, it's a fruit

Cora- No

Georgiana- too much. Georgina better.

Rose- classic, timeless, beautifulm

Prudence- No.

Evangeline- Love it.

Genevieve- Like

Boys:
Atticus- No
Felix- cats name
Caspar- ghost
Maxwell- Max yes, Maxwell no
Jude- no
Edward- ok
Oscar- dogs name
Rex- dogs name
Rupert- see above
Francis- love.

Luredbyapomegranate · 16/10/2022 23:23

Madeleine - ok but I don’t like Maddy and they always end up Maddy. Marianne is an alternative.

Clementine - nice, slightly twee, very of the moment.

Cora - ok

Georgiana - like it

Rose - lovely but utterly done to death

Prudence - ok. Prefer Constance.

Evangeline - no she will be one of 6 million Evies

Genevieve - love it. And Ginny a nice short form.

Boys:
Atticus - great

Felix - a bit feline

Caspar - the friendly ghost. It’s ok, prefer Cassian.

Maxwell - no, cheap coffee. Maximus, Maximilian are both good. Maxim is ok.

Jude - lovely but on track to be very overused. Joel, Joss, Jethro, Jerome might be alternatives

Edward - solid but a lot of them. Robert?

Oscar - done to death. Kester, Ivor, Ivo, Owen might be alternatives

Rex - no, unless you are giving it to a dog. It just means rules, as in Charles Rex. It’s like calling your son Earl. It’s v downmarket. Raphael is nice.

Rupert - to me it is a daft posh boy name.

Ronan, Rufus, Rafe are all nice though

Francis - I like it

ofwarren · 16/10/2022 23:24

Raphael is a nice name

yerdaindicatesonbends · 16/10/2022 23:29

I really like Genevieve and Jude. Only ones I’m not keen on are Prudence and Atticus. Someone said Constance instead of Prudence and I love that!

PearlSupernova · 17/10/2022 07:28

I do love Constance too, but we can’t use it as my best friend named her little girl Conny

OP posts:
AnnapurnaSanctuary · 17/10/2022 07:34

My favourites are:
Cora (or Cara), Clementine, Rose
Edward, Oscar, Felix

17caterpillars1mouse · 19/10/2022 12:36

Madeleine - I like it, but prefer Madeline. I like the shortening Maddie too

Clementine - it's ok, not for me. I like Clemmie

Cora - I just find it a bit harsh sounding. Prefer Clara

Georgiana - lovely, also love Georgina and Georgia

Rose - I find it a bit dull

Prudence - love it, considered it for dd2 but it was a bit much with Dd1's name

Evangeline - lovely but would probably just become another Evie and there are enough of them already

Genevieve - I love that it can be shortened to Ginny or Jenna, not so keen on the long name though

Have you considered Josephine, Rosalind, Jocelyn and Rebecca. They seem like they would suit your style

Boys:
Atticus - not a fan
Felix - dislike, makes me think of the cat food brand
Caspar - friendly ghost
Maxwell - love it.
Jude - I like it but it's a bit too popular for me
Edward - nice enough, a bit dull
Oscar - they are everywhere around here
Rex - T
Rupert - I like it
Francis - lovely name

Have you considered Marcus?

If I had to choose from your choices I'd go with Prudence and Maxwell
