I like Ada better of the two. Violet sounds lovlier to my ear as the French version Violette.

Tough choice, I like both too! Maybe wait and see when she gets here. One might fit better than the other.

Violet. Ada, just my opinion, brings to mind old ladies who lived in the 40s. With a blue rinse.

Ada is a very old fashioned name though I guess it might come back into fashion. So is Violet. I’m afraid I’m thinking that Violet might get nicknamed “Violent” at school!

A friend's DD (now 3 or 4) is called Ada. She suits it and I prefer it to Ava which is far more common.

Like hell it is. Its one of those names shooting up in popularity and will be reflective of her age cohort. It's very of the moment without over doing it. It's on trend but overly trendy. Which is the sweet spot to aim for in my opinion.

So both very much back in fashion right now! Personally I prefer Violet.
