The three names I really like are Kaia, Keira and Sienna

what do you think I seen another thread where someone said the name sienna was chavvy.

be brutal Lol I want real opinions and any other ideas would be great

I also used to love the name Lana.. until I spelt it backwards but I still think it’s a beautiful name

I had the same lightbulb moment about Lana, OP .

If you like Lana, how about Lorna or Hannah??

Have you ever been to Sienna? I find it a bit weird when people use a place name they have no connection to.

haha no I haven’t but it wouldn’t be so difficult to go

It’s such a shame isn’t it!

but no unfortunately I don’t think Hannah would suit or Lorna, I know a few Hannah’s and the name reminds me of a pretty blonde girls name which DD is unlikely to be

Hasn't one of the royals got a baby Sienna? Hardly chavvy.

I know a Larna if that helps with the spelling.

Kaia is on our list too but I'm not sure about it because many people have called it trendy.

Kiera is on our list as well, my husband loves it. I personally prefer Kiera. Keira reminds me of the actress.

Sienna is pretty but I didn't add it to my list as the Sienna Miller association is too strong for me.

Ooh trendy doesn’t put me off if I’m honest Kaia reminds me of Kaia Gerber and I don’t think it’s so bad to have the same name as a model or actress

They are all pretty names and I wouldn't have any negative associations with any of them.
I disagree with the negative comments above. If you particularly like one then I would go for it.

Cinnamonandcoal · 10/10/2022 10:22

A friend had a baby Lara which might also work for you.

Janedoe95 · 10/10/2022 10:23

Thanks for the feedback even the negative feedback and name suggestions Ives added loads to my list!

If you like Lana, what about Lena or Leena or Lina?

MammyS · 13/10/2022 13:56

I honestly would group all 3 of these in the chavvy category. I don't think any of them really fit into your "pretty feminine" category.

Names I associate with that category are things like:
Isabella
Olivia
Amelia
Sophia
Aurelia
Chloe

Don't listen to middle aged women on the Internet

I see ageism is still alive and well on Mumsnet.

I think Rosemary is a lovely pretty feminine name, but my opinion isn't worth listening to, I'm just a middle aged woman on the internet.

Not a fan of overly froufrou girls names and these kind of come under that description for me, also wouldn't be sure of pronunciation of Kaia - would assume K-eye-a.

caitlinrose · 13/10/2022 14:31

Kaia - my husband likes it and I do too but not really enough to use so we recently took it off our list again. It's fine for someone else but feels a bit trendy and a bit 2000s if that makes sense. Kaja, the Scandinavian version pr. kah-ya is more classic to me but more difficult to explain. In generel I'd rather use Maia which feels more classic but probably not right now as Maya got even more popular in 2021. When I asked about Kaya (the spelling my husband originally liked) I got lots of chavvy-comments with Kaia too but not as many.

Keira - my husband likes this as Kiera. It's on our list but I don't think it will be our final choice. I have been told lots of times it was chavvy when I asked about it but I don't think so. As far as I could find out Kiera was the first anglicisation of Ciara and only later on Keira got common because of Knightley. So I find Keira less classic than Kiera or Ciara (Ciara was suggested to me here and I like it but wouldn't use it due to pronunciation issues). This also feels a bit 90s/early 2000s to me (my husband likes these kinds of names). I could easily see Keira being perceived as chavvy because it is associated with one famous actress but I personally don't think so.

Sienna - I love the colour, I love the city (Siena) and I would consider it if Sienna Miller didn't exist. Nothing against her but she is still the first person I associate it with so it feels sort of early-2000s-party-girl-celebrity. I feel like it is too associated with her and not trying to be mean but I don't exactly find her classy (wasn't she involved in some kind of cheating scandal?). So I could see people finding it very chavvy but personally I don't like to categorise names like that. I like it but wouldn't use it. I'd spell it Siena. I'd rather explain the spelling than have the association with the actress and Siena is a gorgeous city.

I like them all but they all feel slightly dated to me and I could see how all could be perceived as chavvy by others (even though I didn't think this before regarding Kaia and Kiera, it was due to comments here). I would pick Kiera because my husband loves it and it's a nice name overall followed by Kaia and Siena. If it was Siena I might place it higher.

Actually now I am sort of thinking about suggesting Siena to my husband so thanks for reminding me of how much I like Siena even though it doesn't fit my usual style :)

caitlinrose · 13/10/2022 14:34

Oh and I like Lana and don't think the backwards-thing is an issue. I know several Lanas who don't have problems.

SallyWD · 13/10/2022 14:48

I like Sienna. It's really nice.
Kaia I'm not at all keen on. It sounds like one of those modern, made up names but maybe it is a proper name! I don't know.
Keira's OK...

EdgeOfACoin · 13/10/2022 14:54

Alana instead of Lana?

Luredbyapomegranate · 13/10/2022 19:56

Kaia and Sienna are both fairly c**y to be honest. Kiera not so much.

What about Lena rather than Lana?
