Same sibling initial

I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but we have 2 DS with the same first initial.
I'm pregnant again and don't know for sure yet but think it's another boy.
If it is another boy I'm unsure whether we'll be able to pick another name with the same first initial mostly due to friends now having sons with the names we would have used.
My question is will it seem odd if we have a ds3 with different first initial?

I think it’s more odd to have 3 siblings with the same initial .

whirlyhead · 04/10/2022 16:52

Why does it matter? Why are you even wasting time thinking about this???

BourbonBiscuits20 · 04/10/2022 16:54

@whirlyhead why am I wasting time thinking about my child's name and how it sounds with my other children's names?! Yes how odd...

I've already had multiple people asking me oh is it going to be another 'X' name so others obviously notice the theme so far

It will be tricky in your house with post in the future.

DismantledKing · 04/10/2022 16:56

I can never tell the difference between the real and troll baby names threads (and I believe this is one of the real ones before MN zap me for troll hunting).
They’ll all equally mad.

Roselilly36 · 04/10/2022 16:56

I would advise against it, it will be a total pain in future when post arrives to mr x bourbon, whose is it?

gyarados · 04/10/2022 16:57

DH has the same name as his Father & same initial as 2 brothers - has always told me it's an absolute nightmare when the children are old enough to start getting post & no-one know what post is actually for who

PaisleyP · 04/10/2022 17:02

I've got 3 with one initial one with a diff. Didn't actually realise for years down the line!

BourbonBiscuits20 · 04/10/2022 17:04

Thank you @PaisleyP this is really my question would others think oh ds3 is the odd one out

@BourbonBiscuits20 My husband said this the other day and it hadn't occurred to me. But I don't think so I think it's just over thinking it personally. I wouldn't worry and for me it's to late now to worry if I even wanted to lol

DotDotDotDotDot · 04/10/2022 17:07

I’d go with a different initial this time, definitely break the theme.

ShootingForTheMoonLandingOnMyArse · 04/10/2022 17:14

We had 3 with the same initial, totally not by design. Complete fluke and named we really like. I just had to give the DC4 the same one as it just would have felt wrong and like they were the odd one out!

It's fine. Most post has middle initial on it as well and TBH they rarely receive post as most of it is online. When they leave home. they'll probably get more obviously but there'll only be one of them so not a problem.

I like it. Their names roll of the tongue nicely.

Yika · 04/10/2022 21:23

Go with a different initial, it won’t be odd but would be more so if you had three the same. I mean, it would look very intentional. With two the same and one different there isn’t any pattern or theme, just different names you like, two of which happen to start with the same letter.

BourbonBiscuits20 · 04/10/2022 21:44

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

I think having 3 children with the same first initial is more odd to be honest! 2 is a coincidence, 3 is on purpose imo

PaisleyP · 04/10/2022 23:55

@DeeDeeDaisy If this is aimed at me. It wasn't on purpose it's simply a name we all liked at the time 🤷🏽‍♀️

Jellybean23 · 04/10/2022 23:57

My brother, sister and I shared the same initial. It was a right pain with the post, particularly for my sister and me.
