Florence or Evie

Hi,

I am currently pregnant with my 2nd child and we know it's a baby girl.
We're stuck between two names so any opinions would be great. We already have a Harry and we're stuck between Evie and Florence, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Definitely Florence, I hate names that end in the ey/ie/y etc pronunciations, they remind me of pets names. I have an y ending name and I hate them.

QuimReaper · 03/10/2022 22:00

Definitely Florence. Nobody can use Evie now for another eighty years.

resm · 03/10/2022 22:01

I think Evie is lovely, but perhaps a bit same-y with Harry.

DurdleSnore · 03/10/2022 22:22

Harry and Florence.

DramaAlpaca · 03/10/2022 22:23

Florence

DysonSpheres · 03/10/2022 22:28

Evie, it's cute and forever young. Florence has a clip to it and sounds mature.

Luredbyapomegranate · 03/10/2022 22:32

Florence. Although prefer Flora

Too many Eves. But if you do go there Eve is much nicer as a full name.

Bigslippers · 03/10/2022 22:32

Ive always loved Florence. Always called my daughter Flossie as a nn when she was little - no idea why but I classed it as a term of endearment .
Evies pretty too but Florence is lovely.

Jazzydrops · 04/10/2022 10:17

Florence. There are too many Evie’s.

LizzieBet14 · 04/10/2022 10:18

Evie

CaptainMum · 04/10/2022 10:38

Harry and Florence is a beautiful combination.

Dinoteeth · 04/10/2022 10:40

Elvie is too samey to Harry.

When you're out shouting on them it's likely to be miss heard.

Florance is more grown up too. And not as many of them around.

emmathedilemma · 04/10/2022 10:52

Florence

ChocolateSpreadOnToast · 04/10/2022 11:09

Evie is everywhere! She’ll be the 25th Evie in her year.

Not keen on Florence either so that’s no help really. Love Eva.

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 04/10/2022 11:15

I find Florence very frumpy. I don't actually know a single Evie, so I'd go for that. Prefer Eva though.

AliBaliBears · 04/10/2022 11:42

Of your two options, I'd choose Florence.

Agree with PPs that Eve and Eva are nicer than Evie. If they were an option, I'd choose Eve over Florence but both lovely names.

junkdrawer · 04/10/2022 11:44

I love Florence!

RuthW · 04/10/2022 12:14

Florence. Evie is half a name. Evangeline is nice.

Pemba · 04/10/2022 12:19

Eve or Eva would be lovely (Evie for short as it's a little cutesy and childish as an adult name). There are loads of them around though, as I'm sure you know.

Florence I just find a bit stodgy and Victorian. Quite like Flora.

Shutupandsitdown · 04/10/2022 13:57

Florence - better nick name potential

sunflowerdaisyrose · 04/10/2022 14:20

I like both but prefer Florence with Harry so they don't have the same sound ending.

Faultymain5 · 21/11/2022 10:08

Because you have a Harry Id go with Florence but hate any shortened version of the name but that’s me.

i don’t know any Evie’s I think it’s a better name just not as well suited to match Harry but why do the names have to match.

As I say I don’t know any Evies, so it must be popular amongst a certain set in certain neighbourhoods.

staybyyou · 21/11/2022 10:10

Eve or Florence. Not Evie.

Honeyroar · 21/11/2022 10:17

Evie. Florence is such a frumpy name.

KangarooKenny · 21/11/2022 10:20

How about Evelyn with Evie as a NN ?
