Sibling name for Tobias

Sb39 · 02/10/2022 22:59

Currently 35/40 with baby boy number two and having so much trouble finding a first name!
His brother is Tobias (goes by Toby) and would like a name to flow nicely with this (no T names please!)
Husband is a teacher and of course this just makes things so much harder🙈
Surname is Barker for reference

Current faves (luckily my OH and I agree on all of them!):
Frederick
Hugo
Rupert
Edmund
Barnaby

Would love opinions on which to go for or any other name suggestions you feel are similar! Please help!

Where does Skiing come into it 😵‍💫

CandyLeBonBon · 02/10/2022 23:03

Apres? Gluhwein? Fondue?

waltzingparrot · 02/10/2022 23:03

Barnaby

PuttingDownRoots · 02/10/2022 23:04

My elder DDs name was always mangled by her skiing instructors (her name doesn't work well in German) so she did have a different skiing name 😂

How about Gabriel (Gabe) or Jude?

Catonthedesk · 02/10/2022 23:04

Not sure but isn't this incredibly outing?

Luredbyapomegranate · 02/10/2022 23:10

I thought by ski-ing name you meant Tobias wasn’t a posh enough name to ski with and I thought blimey..

Barnaby - nice although prefer Barnabas. Barney and Toby is a good combo

Hugo is fine. prefer Hugh

Can’t stand Rupert
Too many Ed names about
Frederick has been done to death

Hugo is very common atm.

I think Rupert and Toby would be lovely.

Ohnoohdear · 02/10/2022 23:13

Henrik is a nice name! :) would go well with Tobias, they’re both quite strong sounding!

MrsEricBana · 02/10/2022 23:13

Ben (zee knees)

Poppins2016 · 02/10/2022 23:15

I think Toby and Hugo sound nice together.

Bootsandcat · 02/10/2022 23:16

Tobias and Reuben

Pixiedust1234 · 02/10/2022 23:19

You have already shortened Tobias so its highly likely you will want to shorten the next one.
Frederick - Fred, Freddy
Hugo - Hu(e), Huw
Rupert - Roo
Edmund - Ed, Eddy
Barnaby - Barn, Barney

I know Barn isn't a real shortcut but its how people will say it. If there's one you can't stand then cross it off. Personally I find Roo a bit of an ick name for a man, probably because of winnie the pooh.

Out of the above I think Frederick will match Tobias better, even when both are shortened.

Banarby Barker is a bit too much like a story book character for me.

I like Frederick and Hugo from your list, and go well with the surname.

Rupert and Edmund are a little too posh for me- I can’t imagine shouting them across a playground. (But then you may be very posh).

HoHoHowMuch · 04/10/2022 14:37

Edmund is my favourite from your list. Love Rufus that a few people have mentioned. Others that seem to fit
Jago
Rafael
Sebastian
Miles
Nathaniel
Gabriel

Crikeyalmighty · 04/10/2022 14:44

I know it might be a bit too popular but I think Thomas (Tom) is nice with Toby

Lilacsunflowers · 04/10/2022 14:52

Rupert and Edmund are a little too posh for me- I can’t imagine shouting them across a playground.

What a strange thing to worry about Confused

Lilacsunflowers · 04/10/2022 15:00

My favourites from the suggestions so far are Edmund, Quentin and Reuben. They all go well with Tobias.

Saying baby names out loud/ calling them out is a pretty common way of seeing if the name is right for you.

What a strange thing to comment on.
