Annalise and Annarose

caitlinrose · 29/09/2022 10:55

I love Annabel which is on our list.

Recently a friend suggested Annalise and I fell in love with it. What are your thoughts on Annalise? The original spelling seems to be Anneliese but Annalise is more popular in the UK. Which one is better?

Annalise
Anneliese
Annabel
Annarose
Anneline (ann-eh-leen)

Thanks for your comments!

I like Annalise 😊

JunebuginDecember · 29/09/2022 10:59

Annalise. Although I do like Annabel too. I'd say Annarose comes of a tad fussy for my personal taste.

emmathedilemma · 29/09/2022 11:04

I prefer Annabel to any of your other options.
Annalise sounds dated to me, a bit 1980's.
Annarose is a bit too try hard and likely to be wrongly spelt as Anna-Rose.
I actually think just Anna is nicer than any of them though!

SoftSheen · 29/09/2022 11:11

I prefer Annabel/Anabel.

Annarose doesn't look right- I would spell as Anna-Rose or just Anna Rose.

How about Anneli, if you want a more unusual (Scandinavian) option?

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 29/09/2022 11:15

Annalise
Anneliese

I like these two, slight preference for the Anneliese spelling as Annalise looks a bit like 'analyse'.

Annabel - 1980s sloan ranger or a doll
Annarose - looks a bit weird. Anna Rose is you must.
Anneline (ann-eh-leen) - sounds like a brand name for some kind of ointment

Cheeselog · 29/09/2022 11:17

I prefer the spelling Anneliese. I like Annabel as well but Annarose and Anneline look/sound wrong.

mewkins · 29/09/2022 11:18

90s Neighbours 😁

AnnaMagnani · 29/09/2022 11:19

Just to say Anneliese (in fact all of them) are supposed to be pronounced Annalisa.

Good points: everyone says you have a lovely name
Bad points: not one single person can spell it or pronounce it

KirstenBlest · 29/09/2022 11:22

Annalise - ok, a bit dated. Makes me think of analyse
Anneliese - will be misspelt
Annabel - ok but Annabelle's getting popular
Annarose - too fussy
Anneline (ann-eh-leen) - looks like aniline, Anneli is better

AnnaMagnani · 29/09/2022 11:24

Also for Anneliese - everyone assumes you are from Holland/Denmark. In fact a disturbing amount of the UK thinks these are the same place which is even weirder.

WaltzingWaters · 29/09/2022 11:32

Annalise is nice. Anneline is okay too although I think would get mispronounced a lot.
personally not a fan of Annarose at all.

Corrosive · 29/09/2022 11:46

I think Anna names can sound a bit like drug brands or chemicals. I love Anna on its own

CornishGem1975 · 29/09/2022 11:51

I have a colleague Annelies who is from Belgium. Pronounced Anna-lees but also gets spelt wrong!

Hadtocomment · 29/09/2022 12:08

I like Annaliese and agree with others that Anna is even nicer. I quite like Annika. But I'm not too keen on the Annabelle names. They do seem frilly to me and I wouldn't like (personally) wouldn't want that for myself. Although the name Isobel is a favourite name of mine. But that seems more complete and a bit less frilly to me and less like two names put together. Anna is a lovely simple elegant timeless name. Anya is very nice too and maybe a bit different. I really dislike Annarose for what it's worth. Again it seems too much and like two names shoved together rather than a single name. The other way round, Rosanna, is nice though.

Lilacsunflowers · 29/09/2022 16:37

No, Anneliese is pronounced An-Eh-lees-eh

The ending is -eh rather than -a.

AnnaMagnani · 29/09/2022 17:20

@Lilacsunflowers Given I've never found an English speaker who can do either, there's no need to be picky

Crappydoo · 29/09/2022 17:23

Im sorry they all sound like haunted dolls or names of girls that have been possessed to me...

Greensleeves · 29/09/2022 17:25

Annabel and Anneliese are lovely. Not keen on the others.

There's also Annabeth, if you like that?

IStandWithMaya · 29/09/2022 17:25

Anneliese

butterfliedtwo · 29/09/2022 17:29

It is! See also Denmark being a city in or the capital of Sweden. Sigh 😊

OP, this poster has a point. We (Danes) spell it Annelise like in your opening post. It's a sweet name.

Yika · 29/09/2022 18:46

I like Anneliese, and agree with PP that Annarose should just be separated out into two names, maybe hyphenated.

Annabel is a pretty classic too.

Caspianberg · 29/09/2022 18:48

I would use Annabel Rose. With Rose as middle name

Frazzled2207 · 29/09/2022 18:48

Annalise is fine as is Annelise but the latter looks German and may cause spelling issues

annabel is fine, perhaps a bit dated

others look made up, sorry

Gillyx · 29/09/2022 19:01

I prefer Rosanna!

AnnaMagnani · 29/09/2022 19:03

@butterfliedtwo You've had this too!

Them: It's a lovely name, where's it from
Me: Denmark
Them: Oh that's interesting, I went to Amsterdam last year
Me:?????

So many variations of this conversation.
