Thank you for your help so far. I have decided to add Beatrix to my list and decided against Beatrice even though I still think it's very lovely. Beatrix just feels more fun to me and I think I have better chances to get it on our common list because my husband prefers modern sounding names and Beatrix does sound a bit more modern than Beatrice to me.

There are some other names I have started to like and I would like your comments and input. Any negative associations or problems you could think of? Should I add them to my list or not?

Selena
Annabel
Alice
Morrígan
Tabitha
Emma

Blossom (middle name only) - I love Bloom as a middle name and Blossom was suggested here as an alternative. Which one is better?

Selena has something witchy that I like (Sabrina is on our list. Agatha is not because husband dislikes it) and I noticed it on this site, so thanks for the idea!

Tabitha was suggested by some people here, thank you! Not sure if husband will like it because it is a bit similar to Agatha in sound.

Morrígan is one I am not sure about yet. Morwenna is on our list now. It has a bit of a modern feel due to its similarity to Morgan which my husband might like but it has lots of history which appeals to me.

Is Alice too bland?

Emma was suggested by my husband, I don't know how I feel about it because I grew up with lots of them. Just wondering, is it popular but still nice to you or popular to the point that you find it bland or annoying?

Blossom is much better than bloom for a middle name.

Don't like any of the names on the list apart from Selena, personally I prefer Selene (It means "the moon" in greek). Selene is also on my list I think it's beautiful and bewitching :)

Selena/Selene, -both beautiful names with a lovely meaning ('moon goddess'). Quite sensual sounding and easier to imagine on an adult woman than a child. There was a famous Latin singer called Selena, also Selena Gomez.

Morrigan - apparently from Irish mythology, meaning 'War goddess' or 'Phantom Queen'. Too much for a baby IMO, much prefer Morgan.

Tabitha - Google search shows links to Bewitched. Originally from the Bible, meaning 'gracious' or 'gazelle'. Pretty and unusual but does sound like a cat's name to me at least!

Annabel - Classic wholesome sounding name, apparently of Scottish origin from the middle ages, combining Anna with the French 'Belle' (meaning beautiful).

Alice - sorry but I'm not keen as I don't much like Alice in Wonderland due to it's creepy author. If you're a huge fan of the story please disregard my comment.

Emma -

(Continued)

Emma - similar classic wholesome vibes to Annabelle. Apparently of Germanic origin meaning 'whole' or 'universal'. I like it as I'm a Jane Austen fan! Famous Emma's include Stone, Thompson and Watson.

I agree that Blossom is better than Bloom for a middle name. Have you considered other nature/floral middle names (Ivy, Viola, Lily, Rose, Fern, Rowan, Iris, Willow)?

Luredbyapomegranate · 25/09/2022 14:38

Selena - I like it, also Selene (Sell-ee-nee) - actually that’s probably more witchy

Annabel - nah, prissy, or pony - Annis, Annest and Annalise are all nice though

Alice - it’s nice but it’s very overdone right now

Morrígan - taking the witchy thing too far here

Tabitha - Nice but a bit twee, you have better names

Emma - a lovely classic, not overused now

caitlinrose · 25/09/2022 16:36

I have never heard of Annest before.

Thanks, Selene is a great idea too!

Alice Bloom gets my vote.

I prefer Bloom to Blossom.

Luana1 · 26/09/2022 10:06

Tabitha and Selena are both on our list - other names we like are Sylvia, Hazel, Cordelia, Willow, Aurelia, Beatrix and Iris.

FayCarew · 26/09/2022 11:09

Selena - fine but might get misspelt - Selina/Celena/Serena etc
Annabel - fine but Annabelle and Isabelle are popular. Much prefer the Annabel spelling
Alice - classic
Morrígan - too unusual
Tabitha - too Beatrix Potter
Emma - classic

I like Emma and Alice

DeeDeeDaisy · 26/09/2022 11:54

I like Alice the most. I like Annabel but associations wise, there's the horror films with the creepy doll, spelt Annabelle though. Although this wouldn't put me off
