Came across the Norse name Osten and thought it sounded nice. Also, like the potential for an Ozzy or Oz nickname. It means 'happy' too.

My concern is that it looks like we can't spell Austin 👀 would appreciate any thoughts on this.

I agree. You, and then he, will be forever spelling it.

As I thought... thank you! I do like the Austin spelling as well. I also like Dustin but it seems quite out there & like a dust bin, so will probably go with Austin.
