Selenie?

I love Selene, thank you to the poster who suggested this in my previous thread! I know Selenie is the “wrong” spelling but I really want the Se-lee-nee pronunciation, not Se-leen. Should I change the spelling to Selenie to make it clearer or does it look silly?

Isn't it Celine? Like Dion?
Celinie or Celené would probably be pronounced how you want, Selenie looks clumsy.

If you're okay with correcting the pronunciation sometimes, I think it's fine.

I think Selini is more likely to be pronounced the way you want (though it does look like an Italian surname).

Selenie will be pronounced SELL-en-ee. Spell it Selene and correct people when they get it wrong. If they can manage Phoebe they can learn Selene.

I agree that if you are in UK, for the pronunciation you want then Celinie or Selini are more likely to produce the desired results.

What about Sidonie, Ce

Hmm I too would pronounce Selenie as SELL - eh - nee. Not Sell - EE - nee which is what you want.

As you’re going to get pronunciation issues whatever you do, I would stick with the original Selene spelling which is more elegant than Selenie. And just accept you and your DD may need to correct people’s pronunciation sometimes.

It’s a lovely name.

I think this - lots of Phoebes, Chloes and Zoes around, so Selene not too hard to get to grips with
