One of our hamsters is called Moon... he is nocturnal!

Dinoteeth · 23/09/2022 00:08

Tania or Tanya would work without the Tit bit.

It's definitely one of those things kids especially will take the piss out a name if they can. And really it's avoiding giving them the ammunition to fire.

@WhackingPhoenix

Pandora is very pretty and nicely upmarket and could be nn as Dora! Haven't heard it used for a while but I like it

I love it but I think my DP would look at me like I’d lost the plot entirely Grin

There's a girl called Moon in Cobra Kai. She kind of suits it, she's a bit of a hippy!

Selene is nice (Sell-ee-nee)

Or Celeste?

Elspethelf · 23/09/2022 01:16

My husband went to school with either a Moona or Muna, not sure on the spelling. He loves the name and mentioned it as an option in my pregnancy. Maybe there are variations you like

AuntTwacky · 23/09/2022 01:24

No!

MrsTerryPratchett · 23/09/2022 01:24

Moon Unit Zappa is a person. I wouldn't chose it for myself.

AuntTwacky · 23/09/2022 01:24

Luna is much nicer

greengardens · 23/09/2022 06:47

Thank you for all the advice, some really wonderful moon related suggestions! :)

I wouldn't choose it as a name but it's so weird that people hear 'moon' and associate it with arses or sanitary products.

Starfreeze · 23/09/2022 10:39

Miriam101 · 22/09/2022 23:48

Makes me think of a bare bottom OP. Sorry!

This! Imagine the teasing at school!
Then from ‘hilarious’ lad culture.

Just don’t.

Ahf22 · 23/09/2022 10:43

this Board sees the most ridiculous of questions.

SpinningFloppa · 23/09/2022 10:49

moon is a well known name for bum “to moon someone” etc , yeh go for it 🙄 she won’t hate you at all...

Crikeyalmighty · 23/09/2022 11:36

@WhackingPhoenix Ha, ha- so would mine- he's more of an Emily, Lucy kind of bloke -

RuthW · 23/09/2022 12:23

Ummm no!

Dacadactyl · 23/09/2022 12:30

Lol. Absolutely no way OP

properdoughnut · 23/09/2022 12:52

Can't stand Luna.

Smileandtheworldsmileswithyou · 23/09/2022 13:01

Please don’t call your child moon, that would be awful for her. Would you have been happy if you had had to go through your life (school and being a teenager) with the name moon? It’s almost guaranteeing that she will be bullied.

Luna is lovely

OriginalUsername2 · 23/09/2022 13:03

Moon also means getting your bum out. It’s a NO from me!

I was coming to say this. I really like the name because of this, and it no negative connotations would have crossed my mind!

Mischance · 23/09/2022 13:06

As long as your surname is not Cup ........

KirstenBlest · 23/09/2022 13:11

Seren and Luna are definitely not my cup of tea. Moon is ok in theory but mooning and month connections make it dodgy. Mouna is ok but is arabic and not connected to a moon meaning.

MsTSwift · 23/09/2022 13:17

In the south west if you “moon” someone you flash your bare bottom at them. I can’t actually think of a worse name. Poor poor kid!
