Its a cute name 😊 you can check popularity on a shade greener I think, but its definitely not overused.

Queenieloveforever · 21/09/2022 21:58

Never heard of shade greener thank you!

I was literally thinking this the other day, with NN Ruthie too! Def due a come back!

Sandysandwich · 21/09/2022 22:01

Where I live it would be exclusively said Roof

Luredbyapomegranate · 21/09/2022 22:01

Oh god no, it’s like a dog barking.

I think it’s the ugliest of girl names.

Sorry to be so blunt, but varied views and all that.

Sandysandwich · 21/09/2022 22:02

nn Roofie

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 21/09/2022 22:02

It probably will come back, along with Rebecca and Deborah and other formerly popular biblical names that have fallen out of fashion. It will also come back with all the plain no-nonsense names like Gillian and Sally. I know some great Ruths but I'm just not crazy about the name itself.

lannistunut · 21/09/2022 22:03

I really like it, I think it looks great written down too.

RuthW · 21/09/2022 22:04

No no no.

Please don't. It's a dreadful name, and I should know!!

kitcat15 · 21/09/2022 22:04

I love it .....I know 2 who are in their 40s

Derrymum123 · 21/09/2022 22:06

I think it is a beautiful name. Definitely due a comeback.

giantwaterbottle · 21/09/2022 22:06

It's my name! I love it now but hated it growing up x

EnjoyingTheSilence · 21/09/2022 22:08

Lovely name. I think you’re right

Bellybootcut · 21/09/2022 22:08

Not a fan. A very dull name. But if you like it and think your future daughter will...go for it.

I agree with this and it's my name 😆. I still look at it written down and to me it doesn't even look like a name, just a noise. I often wonder what my parents were thinking. My sibling have really interesting names too!

Skiphopbump · 21/09/2022 22:09

It’s my least favourite name, I find it so harsh.

Cheeselog · 21/09/2022 22:10

I like Ruth and would definitely consider using it, as long as no one called her Ruthie which is godawful.
Verity is nice as well.

It's called dark greener, not shade greener.

KirstenBlest · 21/09/2022 22:10

I wasn't aware it had gone away. I know two in their 20s, and 4 in my age group.

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 21/09/2022 22:10

I think it's very classic, I have always liked it.

GroggyLegs · 21/09/2022 22:10

Marmite name if these responses are anything to go by!

I like it.
Roo for NN - Cute!

B00mShakeShakeShakeTheR00m · 21/09/2022 22:11

I've never liked it, until I watched Ozark, and one of the main characters is Ruth, and she's made me warm to the name.

KirstenBlest · 21/09/2022 22:13

I can't see that it isn't due a comeback - names like Theo, Thea and Seth are popular on here, as are Reuben, Rufus and Ruby. Biblical/OT names are popular.

inappropriateraspberry · 21/09/2022 22:17

I like it (maybe biased!) It's a pain to pronounce on the phone - everyone thinks you've said Rhys or similar, especially if you pronounce it with a 'th' sound not 'f.'

Arnaquer · 21/09/2022 22:18

Definitely. It's a lovely name.
