I gave birth to a beautiful, dinky 5lb little boy on Monday afternoon a few weeks early, so we hadn’t yet settled on a name and we’re still struggling to choose one for him. I hoped I would see him and know which name was “the one” but none feel right. His older brother is called Reuben. Please can you give your opinions on the following names and give any suggestions for us?

Names on our list:

Jasper
Maxwell
Edwin
Joel
Jacob
Toby
Sebastian.

Names we like but can’t use:
Ezra, Eli, Archer, Joshua, Oscar, Isaac.

Thank you. :)

He's beautiful, congratulations!

Jasper is my favourite. I wasn't allowed to use it! Also goes nicely with Reuben.

spiderlight · 16/09/2022 13:41

Oh my goodness - he's gorgeous! The Reuben I know has brothers called Noah and Gabriel, if that's any help.

Irridescantshimmmer · 16/09/2022 13:45

Xongratulations on the birth of your little boy.

Toby

Benjamin (Ben)....the first name that popped into mt head when I read your post!😀

Nathan

He is absolutely gorgeous OP!

From your list I think Jasper or Joel but like other PP's I love Elliot & think this sounds great with Reuben - did notice you say you can't use Eli though which might also rule out Elliot.

'Congratulations'

My crap spwlling is the fault of the Samsung keyboard.

Jasper (just as long as not a chance of red hair, though that reference would probably escape his classmates).

Sebastian my next favourite.

Or Caspar, which is an old favourite of mine I never got to use.

He’s gorgeous, congratulations!

Vaughn or Austin.

Beautiful. Congratulations 💐

Toby is my favourite from your list. As suggested previously Elliot goes nicely with Rruben

ChillysWaterBottle · 16/09/2022 14:08

Congrats OP how exciting.

I like Jasper, Joel and Sebastian best.

InsanityOf2020 · 16/09/2022 14:12

As soon as i saw him i though Jacob. Congratulations on such a beautiful baby Flowers

maddiemookins16mum · 16/09/2022 14:17

Oh my, what a poppet. He ‘looks like’ one of the following.

Alec
Jonah
David
But I do love Jacob, (DD Would have been Jacob Alec if she’d been born male).

PotHeadedPixie · 16/09/2022 14:28

I also think Sebastian and Jasper are great!

How about Amos? I LOVE this name but I had two girls

Lilacsunflowers · 16/09/2022 14:41

Congratulations!

Reuben and Jasper are lovely together

pitterypattery00 · 16/09/2022 14:55

Congratulations OP!

I think Reuben & Jacob works well.

Not a fan of Jasper but I can see I'm in the minority!

It seems you like old testament names - so perhaps Asher, Abel, or Jonah?

SallyWD · 16/09/2022 15:03

Joel or Jacob are lovely. I think Reuben and Jacob sounds perfect!

resm · 16/09/2022 15:38

Congratulations! Jacob from your list, I think it goes really well with Reuben.
