Pregnant with baby number 4 due soon and it's a boy.

Already have one boy (William nn Will) and two girls Eliza and Alice.

Have narrowed it down to two options:

Edward nn Ted (my aim would be for him to be called Ted most of the time, although I also quite like Ed if he became that through choice)

Frederick nn Fred (am also fine with Freddie/Freddy if he preferred that in the future).

Any thoughts?

Edward nn Ted - love it.

We have similar taste! I have an Eliza and new baby is called a slightly different name but nn Ted.

Thank you! Can I ask if you went for Edmund\Edwin? I do love those too!

I don’t like Frederick, prefer Edward/Ed/Teddy/Ted. It can also be Ned/Neddy if you prefer that shortening.

KangarooKenny · 15/09/2022 07:11

I have Edwin’s in the family but they always go by Ed/Eddie, never their real name as they don’t like it !

Hobbesmanc · 15/09/2022 07:12

I've a little nephew Frederick. He really suits the name although already his siblings are calling him Rico as in Frederico. No idea why.

I like Edmund over Edward. But that might be a Narnia thing.

Mumofgirls2017 · 15/09/2022 07:54

Love both equally!

Fivebeanchilli · 15/09/2022 08:23

I much prefer Edward / Ted / Ed. There are so many Freddies!

PippaWater · 15/09/2022 08:47

I hear Freddie at playgrounds often so I think Edward / Ted might be the better choice if popularity bothers you.

emmathedilemma · 15/09/2022 12:54

Lovely names! My only concern might be that Will and Ted become Bill and Ted......

Yes I did wonder about that too- he is firmly a Will though so hoping that's ok?

I love Edward/Ted. I also really like James/Jim although that’s not on your list. I’m not as keen on Frederick/Fred.

Laurakiaora · 15/09/2022 14:28

Combine them both and go with Fredward.

Luredbyapomegranate · 15/09/2022 17:20

Edward nn Ted (I also like Ned as well as Ed)

There are just too many Freddies. It’s fine but prefer Edward anyways.

Combine them both and go with Fredward.

Fredward did make me laugh, but honestly, you should choose a name you like and not worry about whether it matches with your other kids. No matter what you choose, people will very quickly accept those four names as going together.

DramaAlpaca · 16/09/2022 00:20

I can't bear Frederick/Freddie but Edward is great. So many diminutives to choose, too.

Jleome · 16/09/2022 20:46

My FILs second name. I wanted to use Edwin for my boy and his comment was like- what a horrible horrible name. I still thing it’s a nice name but didn’t use it.
