Esmé is my favourite out of the choices

BestCatMumEver · 13/09/2022 17:41

Hollie. The rest are just so popular and I find Poppy too cutesy.

Snowiscold · 13/09/2022 18:49

Esmé -is a boy’s name. Esme is the anglicised version. Or Esmée if you want the French version. It’s a bit bland.

Poppy - fine. I quite like it.

Hollie - I’d spell it Holly. It’s OK, though I’m not keen.

Isabelle - spell it Isobel or Isabel. Isabelle looks silly and frilly if you are not French. I like it as a name.

MumofSpud · 13/09/2022 19:08

Am biased - I have an Esme (that spelling - no accents)
Although it is v popular- she is a teen now and has never been in school (etc) with another!

SnowdropFox · 13/09/2022 19:27

Esmé or Hollie. Though like others I prefer the Holly spelling. The other two are very popular in my area and Isabelle especially gets lost with the variations and Annabelles etc.

DramaAlpaca · 13/09/2022 19:35

Isabel, spelled that way.

I'm not a fan of Esme, pronunciation can be an issue. One way is OK, don't like the other.

Hollie/Holly and particularly Poppy are just too twee.

cptartapp · 13/09/2022 19:39

Esme - ok. Very popular.
Poppy - dreadful. Infantile and wet.
Hollie - Holly is nicer.
Isabelle - God not another. No.

caitlinrose · 13/09/2022 20:01

Esmée is pretty. Esmé reminds me a bit of Twilight and looks incomplete. But it's fine too.

Poppy is cute but a bit too common.

Hollie is cute but I'd use Holly instead.

Isabelle is pretty and elegant.

I would choose Isabelle or Isabella which is one of my favourites.

dmb91 · 13/09/2022 20:06

Hollie

yikesanotherbooboo · 13/09/2022 20:33

I like Esme but prefer it pronounced Ezmee.
Poppy and Holly are ok but not my favourites and due to family connections slightly associated with dogs' names.
I like Isabel and Isobel but I suppose it depends on whether it matters to you that there have been a lot of them born in the last ten years. I suspect their popularity is waning a bit so your daughter is not likely to have as many around.
As I always say in these threads , I have a very commonly used name and never minded and DH had an easily pronounced and spelled name that was unusual and for which choice he always resented his mother's vanity.

Luredbyapomegranate · 13/09/2022 20:55

Isabel - although it’s very overused it’s lovely. I think the French spelling is fussy (unless you’re French).

Esme is ok, but also massively overused and less classic so will date

Poppy and Hollie are incredibly wet, but if you must then Holly, with the straightforward spelling.

Mummytobe333 · 13/09/2022 21:08

I like Esme the best 😊

Mumofgirls2017 · 13/09/2022 22:05

Esme or Holly
