Looking for some comments on our current favourites.

Anything you can think of especially if there are any negative associations or problems people with the name might encounter.

Sabrina
Cassandra
Kaylie (which spelling would you pick?)
Isabella
Kiera
Bloom
Aria

My husband likes Kaylie and Kiera. I don't really have a problem with them but find them a bit 90s. He likes these two spellings but I guess the most common ones are Kayleigh and Keira? I guess there aren't many around these days so everyone will get used to the spellings she uses. Or is it better to go with some of the more classic choices (mostly my ideas but my husband likes them all as well).

I am also not sure about Bloom, I think it would be a middle name. I do think it's quite pretty but maybe too much as a first name?

Iove Cassandra and Isabella.

pastypirate · 12/09/2022 21:42

Cassandra hands down! Amazing name and not often heard so she won't be known as Cassandra B or whatever her whole school career. It's a great name!

Also Cass and Cassie or even Sandy are nice diminutives.

Sabrina is lovely but hard to shorten.

pastypirate · 12/09/2022 21:43

If you went with Kira I would use this spelling it's the most phonetic.

pastypirate · 12/09/2022 21:44

Isabella there is one in every class.

Chickpea17 · 12/09/2022 21:46

For the love of god please don't make up your own spelling for a name. It annoys my best friend so much she has now decided to use her middle name.

Cleopatra67 · 12/09/2022 21:48

Cassandra and Isabella. Cassandra was a prophetess in Ancient Greek literature and foretold terrible things so there is that connotation.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 12/09/2022 21:49

Keira or Kira. Not Kiera

HorribleHerstory · 12/09/2022 21:55

Cassandra I think.

I don’t mind Sabrina or Isabella but I wouldn’t have the latter as it’s too popular and a bit frilly. I’d prefer Isobel if I had to but the Bel- is a problem to my mind with too many no go surnames. I would prefer Sabine over Sabrina. Bloom just isn’t a name and has loo in the middle.

Ciara is preferable as what I would consider the “proper” spelling if one could be had.

i know Kayleighs and lots of Keeleys too, it’s very 90s you are right. Spelt Kaylie I’ve never seen and would probably think Kylie.

Aria is a no from me.

Mumofgirls2017 · 12/09/2022 22:06

Sabrina- teenage witch
Cassandra- like
Kaylie (which spelling would you pick?)- no, badly dated
Isabella- ok but lots around
Kiera- dated
Bloom- only as middle
Aria- ok

FayCarew · 13/09/2022 09:54

Sabrina - ok but quite a srong name
Cassandra - ok, will be Cassie
Kaylie (which spelling would you pick?) - dreadful spelling. Kayleigh is very 1980s
Isabella - pretty but there are lots of Isabelles/Isabels and Annabels and Bellas and Ellas
Kiera - not keen
Bloom - Leopold Bloom, Orlando Bloom
Aria - nothing but air

FayCarew · 13/09/2022 09:55

Sabina is nice

nancydroo · 13/09/2022 09:58

Sabrina

CaffiSaliMali · 13/09/2022 17:01

Sabrina, Cassandra or Isabella for me, in that order.

Sabrina is lovely, well known but still reasonably unusual. Sabine and Sabina are nice alternatives. A little witchy as a PP said but I like that in a name.
Cassandra - same as above. Cassie and Cassia are both good nickname options. Cassia might bridge both your tastes? It's a name in it's own right as well.
Kaylie - looks like Kay Lie as opposed to Kay-Lee. Kayleigh or Kayley are better spellings. It's a very late 80s or early 90s name so feels quite dated now. There were loads of Kayleighs in my year at school (and loads of Hayleys and Ashleighs)
Kiera - Ciara is the original Irish spelling and is the nicest spelling IMO. Nice name but also feels a bit 80s and 90s.
Isabella - beautiful name, lots of nice history behind it from medieval times and beyond but very popular.
Aria - is nice but very of its time.
Bloom - it's not for me.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 13/09/2022 17:34

Cassia instead of Cassie?
You could also use Ciara as spelling for Keira

pinkpanther84 · 13/09/2022 17:47

I would choose Isabella, or Cassia is really nice instead of Cassandra

Polecat07 · 13/09/2022 17:47

Blossom would be nicer than Bloom.

Pemba · 13/09/2022 17:52

FFS you can't call a child Bloom! Yes it describes something beautiful but the word itself is not, and sounds ridiculous as a given name.

Isabella is your nicest but has been super popular for several years. Sabrina and Keira are nice.

Kaylie, although it sounds quite pretty, is really out of step with the other names. It's quite 1980s and faddy.

RobynNora · 13/09/2022 17:54

Sabrina - adore! teenage witch connotation only enhances an already great name

Cassandra - elegant. uncommon without being 'out there' etc. NN Cass is gorgeous

Kaylie - big 90s vibes. unusual now

Isabella - stunning name but so common in all its variants that it's lost a bit of the 'wow' for me

Kiera - strong, attractive name

Bloom - could be cool depending on the surname

Aria - pretentious but very pretty. i don't mind me a pretentious name but depends on you

Rainbowcat99 · 13/09/2022 18:06

Sabrina the teenage witch, I don't hate it actually but can't uncouple the two.
Cassandra I like this and Cassie is cute.
Kaylie (which spelling would you pick?) nope far too overused a few years ago so now lots of teenaged variations of this name around.
Isabella: can't go wrong with this name.
Kiera: same thoughts as Kaylie, overused and dated.
Bloom: I actually really like this but you'd get some stick for it.
Aria: like this one.

I'd go for Cassandra Bloom from this list

caitlinrose · 13/09/2022 20:09

Thanks for your feedback, I appreciate it.

I will talk to my husband and we will go through the list again and maybe add some names or take some off.

Cassia is a good idea and Cassie too. I will suggest them to my husband. I think I still prefer Cassandra but Cassia is really nice. I will suggest Callie as well.

Kaylie was my husband's suggestion, I like it, but it isn't my favourite. No matter the spelling it always looks a bit wrong to me even though the sound is cute.

Isabella isn't that common here in our area as far as I know. But maybe I will think about using Isabelle instead.

Ciara looks pretty but I fear it will get mispronounced. I will show it to my husband and Keira as well.

Bloom is sweet to me because I do like a few nature names but maybe too out there. I thought it would be usable because Poppy, Lily, Violet etc are so popular now. We will keep this on the middle name list instead.

Blossom isn't really for me, I think. I like similar names but the sound doesn't really appeal to me.

Thanks again and I'll post again when we have made some changes to the list.

The only one I like is Kaylee

CassandraBarrett · 13/09/2022 20:21

Guess which one is my favourite!
