Baby name enthusiast.
Here is some of my favourites from recently for MN opinions on a boring Sunday night.

Birdie
Cleo
Enya
Fable
Gloria
Hera
Jessie
Miley
Nancy
Roux
Tabby
Tai

Some are obviously quite unusual, but I'm not expecting and just like the names, so go ahead and criticise as much as you want Grin

Is this serious?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 11/09/2022 20:53

i only like Cleo.

Mummytobe333 · 11/09/2022 20:58

I don’t like any of them sorry 😞

blameitonthecaffeine · 11/09/2022 22:03

Birdie - is that a typo for Bridie? I've heard Bridie as a nn for Bridget but never heard of Birdie. It really doesn't sound like a name to me. Although I guess technically it's not much different to Kitty.
Cleo - really like it. Funky and sweet.
Enya - really like it. Like a cooler, more unusual Anya.
Fable - as in the story with a moral? Is is a name??
Gloria - not overly keen
Hera - it's ok.
Jessie - love it. I have a Jessica. I would use that as the full name.
Miley - quite like it. But makes me think Cyrus.
Nancy - don't like it
Roux - sauce
Tabby - cat
Tai - boys name? Okay if so. Not keen for a girl.

TokenGinger · 11/09/2022 22:54

My Nana's full name was Bridget, but always known as Birdie. That name has a special place in my heart ❤️

Raul57 · 11/09/2022 23:05

Sorry, do not alike any of them

ElvisLeftTheBuilding · 11/09/2022 23:32

Birdie - fine for a woman living in WW2 era.
Cleo - it's ok, although, a bit renault.
Enya - awful anglicisation of nice Celtic name.
Fable - well, it's not a name, so.
Gloria - in excelcis deo
Hera - actually really like this, classy
Jessie - cute nickname for Jessica
Miley - just, no.
Nancy - it's ok.
Roux - tasty mix of cooked fat and flour
Tabby - nice name for a stripey cat
Tai - trying too hard to be cool.

Rainbowcat99 · 11/09/2022 23:40

Birdie ffs no it's awful
Cleo bearable but dull
Enya sail away sail away.... drippy but actually ok ish
Fable I weirdly love this name.
Gloria your baby will be born with a platinum blonde up do...don't go there.
Hera one of the best on the list.
Jessie sweet, dull but sweet a safe choice.
Miley same as Jessie, nice safe choice.
Nancy too many negative connotations for me.
Roux fuck no!! Just go with Ruth and Rue as a nickname if you must.
Tabby Tabitha nn tabby is lovely and gives options when they're too old to be cute.
Tai bit of a marmite name but I love it.

If this list were my only choices for my newborn daughter she'd be Fable Tabitha

DramaAlpaca · 12/09/2022 00:35

Cleo is good.

Jessie short for Jessica also good.

The others are bloody awful.

Mumofgirls2017 · 12/09/2022 08:34

Birdie- ok

Cleo- love
Enya- ok

Fable- only as a middle

Gloria- dated

Hera- no

Jessie- no

Miley- no, Cyrus

Nancy- like

Roux- no reminds me of sauce

Tabby- short for Tabitha, but still quite cat like

Tai- no

FayCarew · 12/09/2022 11:37

Birdie - awful
Cleo - ok but ...
Enya - 1980s pop star, I'd let that one sail away, sail away...
Fable - Feeble
Gloria - ok
Hera - ok
Jessie - ok if short for Jessica/Jessamine
Miley - Cyrus
Nancy - ok
Roux - I think you'd rue that one
Tabby - cat
Tai - what, like Tai Chi?

TempsPerdu · 12/09/2022 14:27

Love Cleo, like Nancy, wouldn’t choose Hera but would admire it on someone else, and like Tabitha but not Tabby on its own.

Otherwise I’m really not keen.

NuffSaidSam · 12/09/2022 14:35

I like the mix of actual names and then just random words 😂

I like Cleo and Nancy best. Jessie is ok.

Not keen on Enya, Gloria, Hera, Miley or Tabby.

I'm not sure Birdie, Fable, Roux or Tai qualify as names and, as such, best avoided.

MufasaWasMurdered · 12/09/2022 14:37

Ok, so, some PP have already said these things about them, but here's my take on these names (also a baby names enthusiast!)
Birdie - reminds me of teaching children words "See the birdies!"
Cleo - sounds like a cat's name
Enya - 1980s popstar
Fable - a story with a moral...didn't know this was a name as well
Gloria - ok - bit of an 'old lady' name (reminds me of Gloria Stuart who played old Rose in Titanic)
Hera - meh - female version of 'Hero'?
Jessie - I like it - connotations of Jessie from Toy Story 2 and beyond.
Miley - Just reminds me of Miley Cyrus
Nancy - I like it...reminds me of Oliver! Classy name
Roux - reminds me of a cheese sauce
Tabby - another cat name
Tai - misspelling of Thai, which reminds me of Thai food

bodie1890 · 12/09/2022 14:43

Well if you name your child it then it's a name. It's not like there's a list of all words that qualify as names!

CambsAlways · 12/09/2022 14:45

Only like jessie

wackamole · 12/09/2022 15:17

Birdie: feels like it could be a nice nickname, but would not name a child this.
Cleo: OK, but prefer Clio (the muse of lyrical music)
Enya: Love, but only with the Irish spelling Eithne
Fable: no
Gloria: I don't get the "blonde" reference above; to me this is a nice Spanish/Portuguese name on the upswing at the moment
Hera: the original Hera (Greek mythology) was not a good role model!!
Jessie: Don't mind it, but feels a bit nicknamy - nice for Jessica or Jessamyn, and In Scotland it's a traditional diminutive of Jean(ne). I really like Jesse for a boy, but Jessie is sort of rude slang for an effeminate man in Scotland.
Miley: no
Nancy: feels very 60s to me, but no reason it can't be used.
Roux: I think this is a male name; cf Roux in the Rogue Angel series
Tabby: nice short for Tabitha
Tai: nice short for Thaïs or Taissa

jrt2022 · 12/09/2022 16:27

Birdie - not as a name. Maybe a nickname for something. It reminds me of a very frail elderly lady
Cleo - lovely
Enya - Reminds me of the singer
Fable - Not really usable as a name
Gloria - I wish I liked it as I like the meaning but it sounds dated to me
Hera - It's fine
Jessie - It's a bit boring
Miley - Would assume a huge Miley Cyrus fan
Nancy - lovely
Roux - really naff
Tabby - Tabitha is lovely
Tai - chavvy

Well, there kind of is though?

Mummysharkargggggggg · 12/09/2022 16:43

I think they are lovely if your going to use them on kittens
