I'll go first.

I love the name Annie I think it's absolutely beautiful problem is me and my partner are both red heads and make red headed curly haired children.

Loved the name Payton for a girl, can’t seam to carry girls tho. had 3boys and done now

Turtletortle · 06/09/2022 22:44

Atticus - not necessarily a can’t use, although DH hates it, I just don’t feel like I have the right super cool vibe to pull off giving my son the name!

Loveday.

DP will NOT even consider it 😞

One of my colleagues is Mrs Lovelady.

december2020 · 06/09/2022 22:56

Axel - first long term boyfriend and first love
Still really love the name and really tempted to use it, would it be terrible?

Adolf

I know a 30 year old Spanish Adolfo.

37GoingUnder · 06/09/2022 23:17

@december2020 I love it but was overruled. I can’t see that it’s a whole lot different to Alex to be honest and nobody would have a problem with that. Go for it, Axel is such a cool name!

What is the obvious reason for not using Myra? I know quite few under 10.

Are you sure they aren't called Mia/Mya/Myla?

Never heard of a Myra baby

sunglassesonthetable · 06/09/2022 23:45

Hmm, DB & DSiL didn't call their girl and boy twins Sam & Ella.....

Joseph. I love it but it wouldn’t work well with the surname when shortened. Plus two and done 😅

I used to work with a Joseph King. His brother was Leigh. He really hated the fact his parents hadn't thought through the name properly.

OpallyDopally · 07/09/2022 07:08

Sebastian - didn’t work with our surname
Lydia - DH hated
Elliot - DH hated
Alice - we have one too close to us

Atticus and Willow - both gorgeous names but they are definitely not my usual taste as I prefer more standard, traditional names, so I took them off the lists.

Lilacsunflowers · 07/09/2022 07:44

I do not understand why people reject names because there is another in the wider family. Two of my GC have the same name

Because that defeats the whole purpose of 'naming' someone - to identify them easily.

december2020 · 07/09/2022 08:29

@37GoingUnder I haven't tested the water yet to see if I'd be overruled haha! And it's been 2 decades since my first boyfriend (with no contact) so surely the name is fair game again? 🙈 totally agree, it's like Alex so not too far fetched!

DietCokeExtraIce · 07/09/2022 08:32

I love the American style names (Maddison, Peyton, Ashley, Kayla) but we have no links to America and my husband also hates them all 😩

Loveday.

I'm with team DH on that one I have to say. Can you imagine the teasing / bullying at school??

Frogsalad · 07/09/2022 08:41

Oliver - but for same reason as @december2020 it's also the name of my last long term, serious boyfriend.
Although, it was suggested by my husband, who doesn't care about that element so I don't know if it's weird to use it or not????

Onesipmore · 07/09/2022 08:48

I liked Violet, Harriet, Calypso and Tabitha, We couldn't agree so went with entirely different names for twin girls!

Pinktruffle · 07/09/2022 09:18

Tadhg. It’s a lovely sound and all the Tadgh’s I’ve known have been lovely. But it would be absurd on my British Asian babies!

My British Asian baby boy is called Tegh which is not a million miles away - it's a traditional Punjabi name

fairgame84 · 07/09/2022 09:19

Nabeela. Its the name of my husbands horrible auntie but I love the name 😩

Enko · 07/09/2022 09:23

Flora. Both dh and I love it but our surname is way to similar.

MoniJitchell · 06/09/2022 20:41

Loved both Luke for a boy and Skye for a girl. Couldn't use either....last name Walker.

Ooh you should've used them, they sound great!

About10lbstogo · 07/09/2022 09:26

Leo, I think it's a gorgeous name but it doesn't go with surname. Think there was a Leo in Howard's Way who I had a mini crush on Grin

Rebecca, love that name but it would've been the same as a cousin.

Mummytobe333 · 07/09/2022 11:25

Lyla 💕 always been our girl name but unfortunately now got a Ayla & Lyle in the family which both are close sounding.

Mumofgirls2017 · 08/09/2022 07:34

Athena

its just waaaay to similar to both my girls names!

CaffiSaliMali · 08/09/2022 08:44

Esyllt - in England so the letter Ll will be mispronounced as L.
Eirlys - DH doesn't like it
Iona - we'd use the Welsh Yonna pronunciation but more people will be familiar with the Scottish Eye-oh-na pronunciation.
