I like it as a nickname. It's cute for a little girl, but she won't be a little girl forever.

India yes
Indie no.

It's a shortening

I think it lacks any substance.

To me, it is and always will be a dog name.

India is much nicer.

As a statement of support for Scottish self-determination I prefer Caledonia, or Alba.

A little hippie flower-powery. Cute on a girl, not so much on an adult woman who wants to be taken seriously

It’s OK as a nn, but as a full name it’s nothingy, and also trying to be cool (and failing)

Short for Indigo I guess. India is a bit dodgy if you have no relevant heritage.

It's cute but personally I would want a more grown up name like India on the birth certificate. I know not everyone agrees with that though!

My male dog is called Indy

I wanted to use Indiana for DD1 (I imagine she would have would have been Indie for short but who knows)

Absolutely everyone I have ever mentioned it to DD is now 8 and has a totally different name has hated it. Then and now, not one person liked it.

I still love it myself, but Indiana not Indie.

I'm not keen to be honest. It makes me think of the independence referendum, it's not a particularly interesting or nice sound, and it's not very grown up. Very nick-namey. I'm quite flummoxed by it's popularity.
