Middle name ideas for these first names!

So DH and I have decided on Jemima for a girl, but can't decide on a middle name. No family names we want to use/can agree on either. Any ideas.

Also, for a boy we love both Isaiah and Gabriel. What middle would you pair with these?

(Just looking for middle name ideas and not opinions on the first names as we have finally found names we love and agree on after a lot of struggle and me almost throttling him on several occasions! 😂)

Personally, I like middle names to have some meaning, whether that be after someone close to you, or even place names or references to songs!

I see it as a chance to use a name you might not feel brave enough to use as a first name 😅

If there's nothing like that you want to use, then I'd maybe just skip a middle name altogether

Do the names go with the surname? Middle names aren't much used in reality.

I'd use a name that means something to you. A family name is a good choice. Your DM's or DF's first name is an obvious choice. Who could dislike their middle name when it's their DGP's name?

I'd avoid the filler middle name (Rose/Grace/May or Jay/James etc) or the runner up name, as you might have more DC and wish to reuse it.

We used up the meaningful middles on our other children! 😅

Are there any names that you secretly love but wouldn't be brave enough to give as first names, or names that you love but don't like the potential nn?
You could look for a meaningful saint's name or something historical that is relevant.

I quite like Mary as a middle name for a girl, and something neutral like Thomas for a boy.

I love Merryn and Winnie and Marnie and Iris and Daisy but wouldn't use them for a first name for various reasons. I wonder if I could use one of these? I especially love Winnie but couldn't use it as a first. Mary is nice too, I actually thought of Mary but wondered if an 'm' name might be a little difficult to say? If so, that would also knock Merryn and Marnie off the list?

Thomas is very cute. I considered this for a first name but DH vetoed it as he has a couple of very close friends named Thomas.

The only meaningful name we have or a boy would be Maximilian, but I feel it's too long for a middle?

I think it probably needs to be a short name, also probably avoid names with 'M' as there are already 2 in Jemima, it becomes a bit of a tongue twister.

I think you want to use something you like rather than a random filler

I really like Jemima Merryn - goes better than Iris, and sounds interesting. The others are too twee for me - although the full Jemima Winifred has a real Mallory Towers/Ballet Shoes charm

You can’t go wrong with Gabriel Thomas. Gabriel Maxim is also decently good

Maximilian doesn’t work with your firsts I agree
