Rory or Rafferty

Hello!
I think we’ve narrowed our baby names down to Rory or Rafferty (Raff for short). He’ll be little brother to Charlie.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks x

Rory. Brilliant name.

Rafferty is a bit noughties try hard

Spudina · 28/08/2022 10:55

I love Rafferty. Sounds very middle/upper class but still, I like it. Though I prefer Rafael...Rafe for short.

loulou2021 · 28/08/2022 11:04

I love both of these names! We've just had a baby girl but our boy name was Rory - I feel so sad we may never get to use it! Rafferty is cool too but my DH wouldn't entertain it.

PyjamaDuddlejuck · 28/08/2022 12:05

Rory, by a country mile.

MerryChristmasToYou · 28/08/2022 13:54

Rory. Rafferty/Raff is awful

J0y · 28/08/2022 13:56

Rory, but quite like Raffy or Rafa

pinklavenders · 28/08/2022 14:38

I know several people who struggle with their R.... Wowy doesn't sound so nice!

Callingallskeletons · 28/08/2022 14:39

Love both of them OP, congratulations!

germsandcoffee · 28/08/2022 14:52

Lots of kids can't say their r s.
My own would be shouting wowy 🤣

DramaAlpaca · 28/08/2022 15:13

Rory by far. Fabulous name.

Rafferty's just another Irish surname appropriated as a first name, which isn't a trend I like.

RestingMurderousFace · 28/08/2022 15:14

Adore Rafferty.

Catch21 · 28/08/2022 15:15

Rory

goldfinchonthelawn · 28/08/2022 15:27

Rory. i love that name.

Don't like Rafferty at all - not sure why. Ralph with nn Rafe or Raff is OK though.

Happyowl89 · 28/08/2022 20:29

Thanks for the replies. Looks like Rory is a firm favourite :-)

Rory! My nephew is Rory, it’s adorable x

carefullycourageous · 28/08/2022 20:38

Rory yes, Rafferty is really awful (sorry).

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 28/08/2022 20:41

Rafferty seemed to start becoming a thing when Jude Law and Sadie Frost gave that name to their son 20 odd years ago. I'm not sure why people think it sounds upper class.

Rory is a good solid name with a long history. And seems less sleb inspired.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 28/08/2022 20:41

Raff for Raphael is nice though.

Rory. Rafferty/Raff is awful

The opposite of this.

FASDE1517 · 28/08/2022 20:45

Not a fan or Rory- I love Rafferty though! Also love Rafe if you wanted more options.

Ilovedthe70s · 28/08/2022 20:58

Rafferty is like O’Malley, a big ginger Tom cat name.

Raff is awful - Riff Raff

Dinoteeth · 30/08/2022 05:19

Rory by a mile

Raff is a bit Ruff and is great for a fur baby.
