Thea

WishDragon · 27/08/2022 21:34

Theo definitely.

Lillia is just a bit too frilly for my liking.

WishDragon · 27/08/2022 21:34

Thea I meant! 🤦🏻‍♀️

DramaAlpaca · 28/08/2022 02:59

I dislike both.

Thea is weak, lispy and insubstantial.

Lillia used to be a brand of sanitary towels. Lilian or Lily are nice, but I really don't like Lilia/Lillia because of the association.

LadyLolaRuben · 28/08/2022 03:24

Lillia is beautiful. I found someone in my family tree generations back with that name. Its timeless

KirstenBlest · 28/08/2022 11:16

I don't like either of them. Lilia used to be the name of Tesco own brand tampons, and with all the Lilys, Lolas, Lunas, Lyras and Lilas out there is really samey.
Thea sounds like Fear in some accents and there are lots of Theos.

Luredbyapomegranate · 28/08/2022 11:49

Thea

Lillia is wet

bridgetreilly · 28/08/2022 13:08

Thea.

And prefer Lilia to Lillia.

margaritasbythebeach · 28/08/2022 13:12

I prefer Lilia - beautiful name! But I think it's spelled with one l?

Snowiscold · 28/08/2022 13:18

I like Thea but I’m not keen on Lillia. It seems both frilly and insubstantial at the same time. I like Lilian, and Lily is OK.

Pemba · 28/08/2022 14:04

I'd say Lillia, but it feels like too many 'Ls' in there, are you sure it's not Lilia?

All the Lily- names are nice, eg Liliana, even Lilith!

Sorry but I find Thea a bit nothing-y really, plus like a pp said, it some accents it comes out as 'fear'.

Fivebeanchilli · 28/08/2022 14:05

Thea by far.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 28/08/2022 22:19

Adore lovely, lyrical sounding Lilia (which would be my pick) - this spelling though, which is the more widely used and imo the more simple/elegant one.

Thea is nice enough - I just can't help but feel it's slightly "blah" in comparison though, possibly as it feels a touch nicknamey to me (for Theodora, Alethea, Anthea, Dorothea etc).

I much prefer the look of rarer Theia (the original Greek name after the Goddess/Titan, it was apparently anglicized to Thea) . Theia is sometimes pronounced "Thay -ah" though, which you might not like or not.

zingally · 29/08/2022 12:31

I like them both!

Word of warning with Thea though... Germany, and a number of the eastern european countries would pronounce it Tay-a.
