EnglishTeacherMum · 23/08/2022 00:42

Hey guys! Me and my husband are expecting a baby in 3 weeks, and have not come up with a first! We have 2 middle names that are final, we are not changing them whatsoever. The names are, (in order) Lilly and Lupin. Here are some names that we are going between.
Ethelyn
Albany
Willow
Athena
Vivienne
Katalaya
Ariella
Briella
Evangeline
Vienna

Thanks!

Willow Lily Lupin! Sounds like a gardening catalogue
As for Vienna don't get me started

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 23/08/2022 00:50

Athena is really lovely.

EnglishTeacherMum · 23/08/2022 01:28

Ethelyn - not keen on spelling
Albany - no
Willow - not with two floral middle names
Athena - could not name after what she did to Arachne
Vivienne yes
Katalaya/Ariella/Briella - too out there
Evangeline yes, although there is the Lost actress Evangeline Lilly
Vienna - no

SequinsandStilettos · 23/08/2022 01:47

You have not asked for others but for your consideration

I quite like Thalia if you wanted Greek mythological

If you can stomach LLL then
Olivia (Libby) Lily Lupin
Lydia Lily Lupin
Luisa Lily Lupin

Sylvie Lily Lupin
Sophia Lily Lupin

Aurelia and Ophelia are lovely but always get orally and I feel ya/dead heroine on here

But I personally like
Lily-Rose Lupin if there is any wiggle room Flowers

EnglishTeacherMum · 23/08/2022 02:13

It is a consideration, we want to use Lilly after my late mother. I do love your sugestions! Thank you!

Ethelyn - no
Albany - sounds like a pub name
Willow - no because it'll be a double floral name
Athena - yes
Vivienne - ok
Katalaya - sounds fictional, Katerina instead?
Ariella - ok
Briella - sounds fictional. Bryony instead?
Evangeline - ok, a bit too frilly
Vienna - Veronica or Violet

Thefruitbatdancer · 23/08/2022 03:12

Or Liliana Lupin Surname

TimboWimbo · 23/08/2022 04:11

Ethelyn - no
Albany - no (very cheap aftershave?)
Willow - not with the middle names
Athena - not keen personally but not horrendous
Vivienne - nice, go with this
Katalaya - no, hard to say, a lifetime of spelling it
Ariella - no
Briella - definitely no
Evangeline - ok, but a bit overdone
Vienna - song and city, not name

Vivienne is really good!

frenchie4002 · 23/08/2022 04:14

Ariella and Athena are my favourites

GingerPigz · 23/08/2022 04:54

Ooh - Thalia (not on your list but suggested by a PP), LOVE that name and it goes really well with your chosen middle names (pronounced Tah-lee-a). If I wasn't so lacking in the egg department I'd be considering having another just so I could use it.

Mumofgirls2017 · 23/08/2022 08:08

Athena or Vienna for me! Like Willow but too many L’s with lily and lupin

DotDotDotDotDot · 23/08/2022 08:20

Vivienne and Athena are lovely - very classy.
I’d scrap Albany and Briella from your list, they’re awful.

Pollyjun · 23/08/2022 09:31

Ethelyn - awful
Albany - no
Willow - no
Athena - god no
Vivienne - like a lot
Katalaya - awful
Ariella - no no no
Briella - the worst so far
Evangeline - ok
Vienna - no

Vivienne Lilly Lupin is hilariously awful but go for it

Luredbyapomegranate · 23/08/2022 09:46

Vivienne - love it, so vivacious
Ethelyn - like it, due a revival and nice alternative to the overused Evelyn

Athena - I like it, but I think it will be unfortunate if she turns out to be plain
Evangeline - I like it but she will end up one of a million Evies, so no

Albany - no, would be weird for a boy, never mind a girl
Willow - no too wet
Katalaya - no this is just Too Much. Katherine or Katrina is fine
Ariella - TOo Much. Ariel is ok
Briella - Too Much. Briar or Brianna is ok
Vienna - really hard no.

I don’t want to be rude but I think you need to reconsider Lilly Lupin. She is going to have to live with it, and it just sounds silly - like you are naming a pair of cats.

ThatshallotBaby · 23/08/2022 09:48

Athena or Vivienne

MatildaJayne · 23/08/2022 10:03

Lupin just reminds me of Harry Potter now, with its meaning of ‘wolf’ rather than the flower.
Lilly is nice, but with Lupin sounds very HP!

Ethelyn - I have never heard of this name? Is it pronounced like the chemical Ethylene?
Albany - Reminds me of the Duke of Albany
Willow - pretty but too much with Lilly Lupin
Athena - like this
Vivienne - also nice
Katalaya - not my taste but ok
Ariella- too many Ls
Briella - Brionna is nicer, avoids too many Ls
Evangeline - bit frilly
Vienna - ah Vienna.

SE13Mummy · 23/08/2022 10:10

As the middle names have lots of L sounds, I'd avoid choosing a first name with an L in it.

Do you like any names that are shorter than three syllables or is that important to you? I think a name such as Anna, Hannah, Phoebe, Nancy, Kate or similar would work well with your middle names.

NannyR · 23/08/2022 10:18

I'm not keen on ethelyn at all, it sounds like a chemical to me, I love Evelyn though. Athena and Evangeline are lovely names.

Lemonlemon88 · 23/08/2022 10:31

I like Athen out of your list. Some other names to consider -

Thea Lily Lupin
Cleo Lily Lupin
Juno Lily Lupin
Ramona Lily Lupin
Theodora Lily Lupin
Augusta Lily Lupin
Thomasin Lily Lupin
Jemima Lily Lupin

MumofSpud · 23/08/2022 10:42

Vivienne 100%

Bluesky2507 · 23/08/2022 10:44

Again, ethelyn sounds like a chemical compound. I immediately thought of ether or ethylene or ethane! Anyone who has a chemistry background will think of that!

dramalamma84 · 24/08/2022 15:22

Katalaya is perfect

ScruffMuffin · 24/08/2022 15:59

Definitely, 100% no more Ls!

That leaves Vivienne, Athena and Vienna. Vivienne is the nicest by far.
