Sister for Teddy

DueNov22 · 21/08/2022 07:23

Our son is called Theodore but we call him Teddy. Looking for a girls name for his sister, so far here is our list that we both like, but we don’t have a clear favourite.

Maeve
Poppy
Pippa
Mabel

What’s your thoughts on these names? Any other suggestions?

DD1 is Pippa, Teddy is what we would have called DD2.

Careylisa · 21/08/2022 07:29

Out of those I like Maeve.
I have a friend with a Theodore/Teddy and their daughter I'd Josephine/Josie which I think is lovely 😊

ijustcouldntthinkofausername · 21/08/2022 07:36

Maeve or Mabel

Missync · 21/08/2022 07:44

Teddy & Mabel sounds lovely - I don't think I'd go for another 'y' ending name (Poppy)

WildCherryBlossom · 21/08/2022 07:58

I love Mabel.

My first thought was Mathilda. Theodore and Mathilda as proper names, Teddy and Tilly as nick names. Possible veering towards cutesy but I think it works.

Whataretheodds · 21/08/2022 08:00

I wouldn't go for another 2 syllable - y sound. Put off Pippa with Teddy for the same reason.

I like Mabel and I love the name Maeve.

HeartofTeFiti · 21/08/2022 08:02

Maeve is lovely

ButterRose · 21/08/2022 08:04

Maeve or Mabel from your list

I also like Moira, Nieve and Maeva

Lullabies2Paralyze · 21/08/2022 08:08

Maeve is VERY in right now. I know of at least 3 (might not sound a lot but considering a year ago I didn’t know any haha). Possibly because of the tv show The Boys as there’s a Maeve in that.

Ornamentalcabbages · 21/08/2022 08:22

I know several dogs with the above names, and while I say that not not to put you off, it definitely has that connotation for me!

Personally, I think Teddy's sister would be called Eliza 😊

I used to have a small doll as a child called a Pippa, and had teddies too so those names sound a bit like toys ... which is fine if you like that lol

custardbear · 21/08/2022 09:30

What about Phoebe or Callista- Callie for short ?

Mumofgirls2017 · 21/08/2022 10:51

I absolutely love Mabel. The others are all nice names but Mabel is my favourite and fits with Theodore/Teddy.

Luredbyapomegranate · 21/08/2022 14:40

They are all very slight compared to Theodore. You’ve given your son a grown up full name so I think you need to do the same for you daughter

Pippa is sweet, but needs to be short for Philippa - it’s too little girly as a full name.

Poppy and Mabel are drippy and Maeve I think is just ugly personally.
