Really dull and over used sorry

saveforthat · 19/08/2022 22:10

Always think of Michael Jackson hit but it's a lovely name. My son (now 26) had 4 Bens in his class! It's fallen out of fashion for now.

ofwarren · 19/08/2022 22:13

It's a great name, especially as a shortened version of Benjamin.

DramaAlpaca · 19/08/2022 22:27

Nice name.

2anddone · 19/08/2022 22:31

I love it! Prefer Ben to Benjamin but I don't like it when people shorten names so would always choose Ben over Benjamin for that reason.

Titsflyingsouth · 19/08/2022 22:33

It's OK but pretty popular. We have two in our wider family. Aged 29 and 11... There's one in my son's class....

Retrievemysanity · 19/08/2022 22:36

Nice name.

sunshineandshowers40 · 19/08/2022 22:36

Lovely name.

Butwhichoneistheman · 19/08/2022 22:40

I love Benjamin and I bet he’d be the only one in his class.

QuiteContinental · 19/08/2022 22:42

Lovely! Could be any age, could use and take the name anywhere. Not going to cause him
any problems and not ten a penny either. And very easy to spell!

Have the option of Benjamin or Benedict.

Benedict Cumberbatch does make option 2 a bit cooler but it is quite Catholic to my ear.

Soproudoflionesses · 19/08/2022 22:44

Love it.
Not keen on Benny though.

Tootlingalong · 19/08/2022 22:54

I think it's a great name, used it for my son's middle name. Some clearly think it's boring but to me it's a classic which I much prefer to some random made up or "unusual" name.

MrsMop1964 · 19/08/2022 22:54

I have known at least two dogs called Ben so it would put me off using it. Also I couldn't stand the really annoying character of Ben in Outnumbered.
However they are just my personal hang ups -there's nothing wrong with the name if you like it.

Caesious · 19/08/2022 22:54

My boy is Benjamin shortened to Ben. It really suits him and we haven’t heard of any others in his school of 600+ children. He is the most charismatic child I’ve ever met (I have 4 and he is by far the most confident and sociable). Definitely not blah in the slightest!

DeeDeeDaisy · 19/08/2022 22:57

Have always loved Benjamin and would consider it if I ever had a boy but I'm honestly not keen on Ben (even as a nn) so that would out me off! I don't like it as a stand alone name.

KezzabellaB · 19/08/2022 22:59

Love it!

MinnieMouseclubhouse · 19/08/2022 23:13

Benjamin would be high on my list if we ever had a boy. I like Benjie for a little boy.

SallyWD · 19/08/2022 23:17

I love it.

MumoftwoGranofone · 19/08/2022 23:19

Love it!

We’ve got a Ben, officially Benjamin. We chose it as it’s multinational, clear, traditional and a strong name. Only know 1 other Ben in his school of nearly 400 pupils so clearly not so many around where we live. Had a discussion about Benedict but decided no because of Benedict Cumberbatch. Also had Sebastian on our short list, but he looked very much like a Ben when we set eyes on him!!

We have similar tastes!
My son is Sebastian and if his twin had been a boy, he'd likely have been Benjamin.

It's perfect 😍 Benjamin shortened to Ben is lovely. Ageless, solid, classic. I love it. My son also loves it 😚

Mine too! Works in many languages too (we are not in the UK)

Grandad name.

Couldn’t imagine looking at a two week old baby and going ‘oh hi little Ben.’ It just doesn’t make sense to me. It’s along the lines of Victor - straight grandad name.

That’s just my opinion though

Victor is brilliant. Ben's fine.

abblie · 19/08/2022 23:38

Love it but my nephew is Ben and he suits it so well

Wouldloveanother · 19/08/2022 23:47

Honestly? Very dull and a bit wet.

grayadkins4eva · 20/08/2022 02:17

Beautiful name. My favourite boy's name
