Jaze or Jayze

To be pronounced to rhyme with maze?

I prefer Jaze as it's simpler but my DP thinks Jayze looks more solid as a name. We don't like traditional names so James is off the menu. We liked Jay but it's a bit overdone and more boring.

I wonder how you arrived at the connotation of 'naughty boy'

I think ‘becoming naughty’ or being poorly disciplined and then displaying poor behaviour can often happen to children born to parents who pick shit names. Picking a ridiculous name can sometimes just be the start of a string of poor parenting choices. It’s not due to the name itself.

BadSkin · 14/08/2022 18:55

Don't do it

converseandjeans · 14/08/2022 18:55

Neither.

TwinklingFairyLightz · 14/08/2022 18:56

@LittleBearPad

Apparently Gary is in danger of dying out.

Just call him Chav and be done with it

This .

Spot on.

daysayso · 14/08/2022 19:03

Please don't

InFiveMins · 14/08/2022 19:04

Jaze

Scepticalwotsits · 14/08/2022 19:05

Jayze - really. 'Onto the Next one'......

lot123 · 14/08/2022 19:06

I know a Gary, Colin, Nigel and Keith (all in their 40s). Does this mean I'm getting old...?

Back off the tangent, sorry but I really dislike both names. Jasper? (A different vibe I know)

RoseMartha · 14/08/2022 19:07

Neither

RosiePosie80 · 14/08/2022 19:08

Balonz?

TheDuchessOfMN · 14/08/2022 19:09

Jaze is ever so slightly less dreadful

PlanetNormal · 14/08/2022 19:10

Neither.

Both spellings are ghastly & chavvy.

Aquamarine1029 · 14/08/2022 19:11

It's fine if you want your child to have an unusual name, but unusual doesn't mean stupid. Don't give your child a stupid name. You are just setting them up for failure.

lunar1 · 14/08/2022 19:12

Id probably go with Malcolm.

SirChenjins · 14/08/2022 19:16

If you want to be edgy and unique go for one like Daryl or Cyril. Jayze and Jaze sound like you’re 15 year olds in the lowest set in high school who have made a baby.

Hoppinggreen · 14/08/2022 19:17

No

cactusses · 14/08/2022 18:31

Yes I thought maybe Jayze would be read like Jay-Z. I get that lots of people won't like Jaze. I don't mind Jace actually although that sounds more like a shortening of Jason.

Not unless you have just given birth to a stock car racer from the 1970s ..

Aboutcoffee · 14/08/2022 19:19

What about Jayzus? Popular nickname for Jesus in Ireland.

Only if the middle name is ‘and the Wee Donkey’

ihatesoaps · 14/08/2022 19:23

Awful names
Very chavvy
