Marcie?

Thoughts on the name Marcie? I'm due next week and it's always been top of my list but DH thinks it sounds old fashioned! He doesn't dislike it but he's sure everyone will picture an old lady, whereas I picture a young girl..

We considered a longer version e.g Marcella shortened to Marcie, but I don't actually like any of the longer versions and would just call her Marcie anyway

I like Marcie but I'd only do it as a nickname for Marcella. It's too informal for me to consider as a name I'd put on a birth certificate.

I do think it's a nickname that could carry well through childhood and adulthood, however.

Not a fan. Puts me in mind of a loud American woman in a rest home.

I think it's a lovely name and would suit most ages. I have always liked it but I only had boys.

I actually quite like it, but not as a given name. (I’m one of those who finds -ie names too nicknamey. I go by an -ie diminutive 99% of the time but am glad I have a formal name to use when I want.) What about Margaret for the birth certificate?

It’s alright but it is quite nick namey so I’d give her a full name as she might not be keen on it. If you don’t like Marcia, Marcella or Marceline / Marcelina, then I would just go for Maria or Marina. Or you could be French and go for Marie Claire?

Marcie is a pretty name.
Marsaili is popular version at the moment. Marcela is my favourite spelling and sweet too.
Timeless classic.

Can I suggest Marnie?

Marsaili is a great idea. Lovely Scottish name.
