Not sure between these to for naming our son. I like that Eli is a bit different but worried it’s too weird. Then Zachary too common? Help pls !!

Eli

Neither too weird or too common / popular in my opinion.

Both nice but I prefer Zachary.

VintageVest · 10/08/2022 21:08

Both lovely. Eli would be my choice

Eli

They're both Jewish and both nice. Eli was my 2nd choice

resm · 10/08/2022 21:21

I prefer Eli of the two, but both are nice. Isaac could be another option if you like Zachary.

Penfelyn · 10/08/2022 21:29

Both are nice, I like Eli best (I like it even more if it's short for Elias).

Newuser82 · 10/08/2022 21:31

Eli!!

RuthW · 10/08/2022 21:52

I prefer Elias or Elijah with the shortening Eli.

Zachary

Eli - usually short for Elijah - is more popular thsn Zachary I’d say. There are a lot of L names about so I’d go for Zachary.

Pieceofpurplesky · 11/08/2022 01:37

Zach

Eli is gorgeous and was on my list. In the decade since, I have taught 3 very challenging Elis, whose mums were really hard work, and am now relieved I don't have one at home.

Zachary. I don't like Eli at all - Eel Eye.

pinklavenders · 11/08/2022 10:31

I don't like Eli at all - Eel Eye.

Eel 👁

Can't get that out of my head now....!

Purplemoon19 · 11/08/2022 10:35

Love Eli, especially if short for Elijah

Cf449 · 11/08/2022 10:36

Thanks for all opinions so far! I know a lot of people on MN say Eli is really popular but I don’t think I’ve heard it once where I live? We live in the south so I don’t know if it’s different in other areas of the UK.

Oh god now that’s in my head 😫Feel like normal pronunciation Ee-lie rather than Eel-eye doesn’t make me think of that as much though

Thank you! Unfortunately Elijah has been vetoed by partner so would have to be Eli or nothing

Ah shame. Eli lovely on its own though too. I don’t think it’s popular! Never come across one with three pre school aged dc.

Tinatheturtle · 12/08/2022 15:58

I like Eli
