Help me!

We have a very common welsh surname that isn't Davis or Kelly.

Husband is Welsh. I am not. We live in the north.

We like traditional names. I'm a teacher so it's making this very hard. We have an Alexander (Alex) I like names that can be shortened. Second boy due very very soon

So far:
Sam
Max
Ollie

But haven't settled on anything.

Help!! Open to suggestions

Thank you, that's fair enough but I do like the sound of Jacob Jones 😁 Not sure how retro you want to go but I've thought of a few more. Happy baby naming.

Thaddeus
Timothy
Tobias

I like Dominic Jones, it sounds like the brother of Alexander Jones.

Pity your boss is called Nick. Nicholas Jones would have been good.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 06/08/2022 00:08

If you have an Alexander, I'd be tempted to go for another completely timeless (ie. never left the E and W top 100 historically) boys name to match - so William (Will, Bill/y, Liam), Edward (Ed/die, Ted/dy, Ned, Ward, Bear, Woody, even Iolo at a push), Michael (Mike, Mick/ey, Mika, Misha, even Cal at a push), Charles (Cal as well as Charlie), Daniel (Dan/ny), Thomas (Tom/my, Tam) or David (Dave/y). There's also George, James and Joseph but you said no J and obv there's limited shortenings for George!

Missing the point entirely but - Kelly is not a Welsh surname, it’s Irish.

Idris Jones
