Mother in law is called Rosemary nn Rose so is this to close of a name do you think for a nn Rosa?

Looking for a longer name but nothing too out there

Struggling to agree on a name!

Thanks!

I prefer Rosa as a standalone name.

It’s not too close to MIL’s name, as long as you don’t mind people assuming she’s deliberately named in MIL’s honour. (I would hate that personally but your MIL may be nicer than mine).

Love it

SpeedofaSloth · 02/08/2022 08:29

Lovely name, I also like the spelling Rosalea.

FreudayNight · 02/08/2022 08:30

I know a little Rosalie, it’s a gorgeous name.

SummaLuvin · 02/08/2022 08:43

It's very pretty, though I always think of Twilight, probably showing my age there.

Bear in mind that your Rosalie might not use her full name or your chosen nn of Rosa forever, and by 7 might go by Rose in school with classmates. Would you be ok with this?

A pretty, longish, uncommon but not out-there name to consider might be Claudia.

IggyAce · 02/08/2022 08:48

I love it and it was on my list for dc2.
I will warn you, you can’t guarantee a nn, my dd is Imogen and we chose Imi but she told us age 4 she didn’t like it. She’s had a few nn over the years current as a teen is Midge!

Pinkdelight3 · 02/08/2022 10:14

Showing my age even more as it reminds me of the heroine in The Company of Wolves, although she was Rosaleen. Either is very pretty.

Lovely name, I also like the spelling Rosalea.

It’s a bit Dairylea……

MatildaJayne · 02/08/2022 10:25

Would you pronounce it Roz ah lee or Rose ah lee? I’d automatically say the former.

MatildaJayne · 02/08/2022 10:26

I quite like Rosalind as an alternative.

scrivette · 02/08/2022 10:26

MIL's middle name is Rosetta and 2 Granddaughters have the middle name 'Rose' after her.

RestingMurderousFace · 02/08/2022 10:27

I love all the Roses:

Rosa
Rosealie
Rosealita

BeanieTeen · 02/08/2022 10:28

Twilight.

SeriouslyCarol · 02/08/2022 10:29

Rosalie and Rosalind are both lovely names. The Rosalind I know has always been Ros (which I don't think is as pretty).

I found a couple of Rosinas in my family tree about 125 years back, when it was apparently really popular - but seems to have missed out on the Elsie/Mabel/Violet revival.

Enko · 02/08/2022 11:10

Really like Rosalie also like Rosalia

jupeBex · 02/08/2022 12:59

My daughter is called Rosalia, we just love it. Rosalea is beautiful too xx

ladygindiva · 02/08/2022 13:02

I love Rosalie
Love Rosalind even more

ladygindiva · 02/08/2022 13:03

Can I also mention I love Rosabel too

Jeffica · 02/08/2022 13:28

I've got a Rosaleigh, and we do shorten it to Rosa quiet a bit.
But if someone asks her name she gives them the full name, last and middle name included! strange child...

SummerSummer8 · 02/08/2022 13:48

I prefer Rosealie :)

Becknutmeg · 02/08/2022 13:49

SummerSummer8 · 02/08/2022 13:48

Kindofcrunchy · 02/08/2022 14:00

Love the name Rosalie, it's on our list.

Nothing wrong with Twilight. :)
