As nickname for Emilia / Emily?

Which do you prefer?

I prefer the full names, but Milly if I had to choose

knackeredagain · 02/08/2022 08:24

Milly

HadEnoughOfBears · 02/08/2022 08:25

I like Mila but I would just have that as the name.

DuchessOfSausage · 02/08/2022 08:41

If you say Emilia as Em-ill-ia, milly seems more logical.
Emmy might help people remember that she's Emilia not Amelia.
I don't like Mila - is it My-la or Mee-la?

Mennex · 02/08/2022 08:43

I don't like Mila either as a nickname for Emilia. It's nice as a standalone name though.

Emmy is a bit twee for me. Also I find nicknames happen organically, not sur eyou can reliably plan then in advance.

MsSquiz · 02/08/2022 08:50

The Emily I know has only been shortened to Em, and she's 5.

You can't enforce nicknames so I honestly wouldn't overthink it.

I have a Charlotte and I considered the most common shortenings & was happy with them all (ie didn't hate any) I was convinced we'd all call her Lottie from day 1 but she is so far always just Charlotte. Although she is only 2.5 so no doubt this will change when she goes to school.
When choosing her name I discussed the obvious shortenings/nicknames including Charlie and MiL said she hated Charlie and would never call her that. I said that was fine, it would be DD's decision to go by that if she wishes, and not ours

Thank heavens this was for a nickname I thought you actually wanted to call the child Millie Emmy Mila.

For Emilia I prefer Millie. For Emily I prefer Emmy

@Enko 😁Don't give me any ideas!
