Hi all - two girls due in just over a month. Only name I love so far is Cara but can't decide what name is best to go with it. Been thinking it over for the entire pregnancy and still no closer to a decision. Please chime in - need all the help I can get!

Cara is a lovely name. Stop putting yourself under pressure and wait until they are born. My only advice is don’t have the same initial letter as it causes confusion eg at nursery, school and mail when they are older.

First name to come to mind was Cara and Zoe. I like Zoe is a well known but underused name. I met a little Zoe recently and she was lovely and cool for a 3 year old.

Other names I think go well together

Cara and Imogen
Cara and Lucy
Cara and Rachel
Cara and Emmeline
Cara and Hazel
Cara and Sophie

Cara and Celia/ Callie (same initial ok?)
Cara and Sara/ Zara (rhyming?)

Top tip from a twin mum..as well as not having the same initial letter I would try shouting both of them at the top of your voice and checking they sound different enough as in 4 years time when you are calling them across the park and thy have run off in separate directions you want them to be able to respond the their name! So id maybe not go for Cara and Tara or Zara or Kiera and stick with something that sounds different like Cara and Zoe or Cara and Amy

wreckingmybread · 02/08/2022 02:32

Hi all, just wanted to say thanks so much for all of this! Some VERY helpful responses - esp in terms of same initials and similar sounding names - that I wasn't expecting, and some really lovely names to add to the list. I probably should have said from the outset but I posted for a friend of mine who hasn't used Mumsnet before, and she asked that I follow up on her behalf - it's put her mind at ease as she's due soon so the stress was mounting, and she's now delighted with her new baby name list. Thank you 👏
